Just to complicate matters further, the DOJ has filed a suit in the federal District Court against TX, claiming that their law is an unconstitutional civil rights violation. It may or may not get any traction.

I suppose it's not unreasonable to call this a civil war. The battleground is the federal court system. And of course, we the taxpayers are footing the bill.
