John 6:61. When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples complained about this,
He said to them, Does this offend you?

John 16:
1
These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be offended.
2 They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever
kills you will think that he offers God service.

3 And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me.
4 But these things I have told you, that when the time comes, you may remember that
I told you of them. And these things I did not say to you

at the beginning, because I was with you.

Matthew 24:10. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will
hate one another.

Matthew 13:57. So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them,
A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.

Matthew 17:7. Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come,
but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!

Luke 7:23. And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.

This requires the circumcision of Christ, in the heart, for the carnal mind thrives on recognition,
approval, commendations and compliments and due respect from others.
It is a disease of the heart, and is the reason the flesh is easily offended by an even
minor slight.

John 5:44. How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from the only God?

41 I do not receive honor from men.

"We have met the enemy, and it be us."
Pogo

That reminds me of a quote from the Gulag Archipelago, which goes something like...we try to divide each other into them and us and say they are evil, but the dividing line between good and evil runs right through the heart of everyone of us. Something like that.

James 4:6
And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

Psalm 138:6
Though the LORD is on high, He attends to the lowly; but the proud He knows from afar.

Matthew 23:12
For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

1 Peter 5:5
Young men, in the same way, submit yourselves to your elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

Matthew 19:30

I've had my share of grudges against people who have upset or offended me.
But my grudges never last for long. My sense of humour does not allow it.
Quite a number of my former "enemies" have now become my friends.

You should read the post, and not just respond to the title sister. There is a powerful lesson
from the Words of Christ. I hope I can say that to you without offense.

I did read the post :)

Does Jesus Christ offend some?

Yes.
Mostly it is what He says that offends them...
For example, John 6.

I feel that those who follow Christ in Truth are being put in ever smaller boxes and are labeled with ever more horrendous and yes, offensive names.

Soon, I fear, they will seek our lives when the box becomes small enough and the labels shocking enough that require something be done to quell the "evil" that is the true Christian.

Does it offend me? Yes. Does it matter? No, because I can't stop being a Christian and holding these beliefs.

It may depend on what is being attacked.
Do we leave room for righteous indignation? Stand up for the downtrodden and hurt? Do we defend others by taking offense at the injustice being done to them? Are not heroic deeds driven by an offense to our sense of right and wrong? Are we not offended by someone that denigrates that which is good and promotes that which is evil? Was Jesus offended by the "den of thieves" in the Temple area? He drove them out with a whip and turned over their tables. Was he offended? (seems so)

There seems to be a distinct line between the self-defense of what we might hold dear and the defense of others. I'll step in to defend someone else so they don't have to defend themselves. And I appreciate it when others do the same for me.

I like what you are saying here. I was pretty clear in what I was referring to:
"the flesh is easily offended by an even minor slight."

Psalm 106:3. Blessed are those who keep justice,
And he who does righteousness at all times!

Be blessed in defending the defenseless. This is True Religion. James 1:27
