What if culture, ideas, and social factors expressed by a different ethnic group are disturbing to you?
Prejudiced and racist.

How do you view avoiding having relations with a particular ethnic group based on cultural and behavior practices that are unacceptable to you?
But racists will counter that some races are more evolved than others. Various ethnicities have been portrayed as half-apes in cartoons by such people. Blacks, Asians, Irish . . .
If we're talking about say avoiding groups because they are all about everything I am not about, then it's just avoiding negativity in general. Which seems fine.

I like that. But what do you mean by "groups"?
I actually do that in my business, and am called a racist for it.
Well when I typed that I was thinking about how I purposefully don't hang out with members of the KKK for instance.
So, I mean groups of people tied together by ideology.
Depends on the who you're avoiding I suppose. If you answer "black people" I've got some news for you.
Is eferring to hang with people that look like you is ok too?
Why would you mention black people?
Preferring?
That would be a natural instinct that you shouldn't let box you out of exploring groups of people who don't look like you.

It's an example where you would actually be pretty racist.
If we're talking about "avoiding groups because they are all about everything I am not about", then putting any broad ethnicity or race into that category would make one a racist.
Sorry, it's an example, I am not accusing you of anything.
Can't be all bad if it's natural.
What if, in my experience, they are actually everything that I am not?
Natural isn't actually synonymous with good, no.
A preference for people that look like us is a natural byproduct of how humanity would have lived for eons in small communities of similar looking people.
So the feeling can be doing you a disservice in the modern world that is less like that.
I suppose that's up to the individual's situation.
If you can't just say what you mean then it is probably not that great.
Avoiding social shame is another one of those natural mechanisms that tells us how to moderate our actions. This one is usually workable in the modern world though.
Yeah, I'm speaking in generality's, every situation is different.
