Does Calvinism teach that men are free to believe?

hammster said this in another thread:
Why do you say that if someone isn't chosen that they are out if luck? Are they not free to believe?

He previously said that unless someone is chosen by God, and regenerated, they cannot believe. I challenged him and he told me to start another thread.

OK. I hope he will clarify his contradiction. Because in Calvinism no one is "free to believe" unless and until God regenerates them first.

Can you quote where he said that? I'd like to see the context.

The OP is rather straightforward. Either you remember what you said or not, but either way, certainly you know what you believe.

Again, this is what I posted:
Why do you say that if someone isn't chosen that they are out if luck? Are they not free to believe?

He previously said that unless someone is chosen by God, and regenerated, they cannot believe. I challenged him and he told me to start another thread.
Either you agree or disagree. I'll have to go search which other thread you made your comment. But the comments are clear enough and don't really require a 'context' for meaning.

You find where I said it, first. If I didn't say it, your OP is meaningless.
Seems to me you are quite unwilling to commit yourself to say either way, which I find very interesting.

But, the OP has meaning whether or not you think so. I provided statements that you can either agree with or disagree with. There is no need to dodge them.

However, here is the post:

Where did I say that man cannot choose unless God regenerates him?

Seems to me that the thread was created to trip up another poster rather than to sincerely discuss the teachings of Calvinism. Just an observation.

Oh, but that NEVER happens here....:confused: :o

Good observation, BB. I'm trying to get hammster to stick with one view.

Ok, let's just cut to the chase, ok?
Why not just admit that I didn't say what you said I said? Isn't that what you demand of us?
Do you believe that man cannot choose unless God regenerates him? Yes, or no, please.

Thanks.
No.

Then defend your OP. Provide the sources.
I gave you the post #.

Don't you remember I asked you about this in another thread and you told me to start a thread. So I did, and you still don't want to answer. Interesting.

So, you believe that man can believe apart from regeneration? Yes or no.

He has the ability to decide whether or not he thinks the gospel is true, and whether or not he is in need of salvation.

You gave a post number where I never said that man cannot believe apart from regeneration.

OP Fail.

You didn't answer the question. Which was:
So, you believe that man can believe apart from regeneration? Yes or no.
So, yes or no, please. The question doesn't require a sentence, but only a single word. Thanks.

Not that he needs me to defend him - he's stated his views over and over again. Let it go man - the more you attack posters here the more your credibility shrinks.
