No, he wasn't "shafted." It's simple - he didn't get the votes.
in my opinion the problem with sanders is that he's a revolutionary and not a leader. i'm not saying that biden is but there are certain things a leader has to do that a revolutionary does not. can you be both? sure, but it's hard to be both at the same time.

I am definitely no fan of Bernie Sanders, but I believe in fundamental principles of fairness. This is twice now that Sanders had the deck stacked against him regardless of what the people want.

Bernie Sanders says he is assessing his presidential campaign - CNNPolitics
It's called politics. It is not fair. Thinking it is fair, or should be fair, is a problem to be solved. We do not live in a democracy. We live in a two-party representative republic. Big difference. This is especially true in the nomination phase of the process where the parties wield influence. Not only is this true but as a ["democratic"] socialist (josh rolls eyes while bernie winks) Sanders is relying on the populace when it is the delegates that matter. Remember: the Dems do things differently; they run the delegate system different than the Repubs. This is how Clinton got it wrong; running for the general population vote does not count in American presidential elections. If Sanders wishes to win he must run for the delegates' favor, not Democratic citizens' favor.

America is not ready for an openly socialist POTUS. Maybe one day, but not today. America is most definitely not ready for a rich 78-year old (White) Yankee socialist who has never held a real job. In addition Sanders is running against the media. If there's an unfairness (and I wholeheartedly agree with you in this regard) the media is observably biased against Sanders. This bias is evident in this video. Here the media is biasing the vote and prognosticating who's the winner. Sounds a lot like Bush v Gore as the media broadcast defeat in Florida and a repeat of Trump v Clinton.

The have not learned their lesson.

The fact is Biden still has less than half of the delegates he needs and Sanders could catch and possibly eclipse him. Unlikely but possible. Object, unbiased, ethical, professional news reporting would report it that way.

Fundamentally, though, what is not fair is the choices the Dems have. Both of the two choices they have are woefully wanting. I'd be inclined to say it isn't fair but this is the bed they have made to lie in.

I think they tipped the deck as much as they could, but the main issue seems to have been the voting public suddenly getting scared of actual change at the last minute and going for what they saw as the ‘safe’ option. I think America basically passed on its last chance for decent change for probably quite some time.

The people wanted somebody else.

I'm not a huge fan of either Bernie or Biden, but IMO, it's rather wishful thinking to imagine Bernie as being able to bring about "actual change". He's much more of a lightning rod than Biden and so long as Republicans still control the senate, all Mitch McConnell has to do to stop his agenda is say "no". Biden has a much better chance of wheeling-and-dealing *something*, whereas Bernie hasn't really done that at all throughout his entire career.

Bernie spent years wrangling bi-partisan amendments through Congress. He was famous for it.

An amendment to a bill is not crafting and introducing a bill, it is just tacking something on the work of others.

It showed he was more than capable of working with both sides of the political divide to find compromise. Which is exactly what Biden keeps being praised for.
