And He said to me, “t is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega,
the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life
freely to him who thirsts.
7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things

and he shall be My son.

Don't worry about these details. If you see sin in your life, just repent and with faith in Christ, struggle against it. You will overcome and be saved in God's time.

Dave L, please read the following, then answer one simple question...can a Christian overcome?

1 John 5:4-5 ESV
For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

Only after being saved and only those who choose to let Lord Jesus be Lord of their lives. Our faith is the victory over the world (1 John 5:4). The precious blood of Christ and our confession and not loving our own lives overcomes Satan. The 7 churches in the first chapters of Revelation had particular problems. They had to be addressed in order to overcome.

What interests me here, and in the 2nd and 3rd chapters of Revelation, eternal promises are made,
not to those who believe, but to those who overcome. We find ourselves in Christ by Faith,
then what?
Yes, I was very struck in reading Revelation recently the emphasis on "overcoming". And we know that we can only do this through faith in Christ, keeping our focus on Him, walking in the spirit (Romans chapter 8) (a daily choice, and we have a daily prayer in Matthew 6 to help us).

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

After you posted the same, pretty sure I saw Dave leaving by the buildings back door.

I'm sure not... he's our brother in faith, probably a misunderstanding/miscommunication somewhere...

I have overcoming means in that person remains loyal to God, even if difficulties. And that is after person has been saved from the judgment that would come because of sin.

Is it possible to have one without the other ??

Personally I believe that one who is truely born again has given up their free will for His will.

One must first be saved and received the Holy Spirit in order to be in the Body of Christ. Once we are in Him, we are guided by the Comforter, Holy Spirit, if we walk with the Spirit daily. If we "quench" the Holy Spirit, there is the possibility of apostasy. This is why we must walk the narrow road that leads to the narrow gate. Many will go the wide road of destruction even say "Lord, Lord" and do great miracles but He will say "I never knew you". In the flesh we continually struggle with temptation. One must overcome the enemy to prevail through His Holy Spirit. Be blessed.

Accepting Jesus and being saved IS overcoming the world and its many ungodly beliefs.
The Parable of the Sower Explained
Mark 4:

13 And He said to them, Do you not understand this parable? How then will you
understand all the parables?
14 The sower sows the word.
15
And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear,
Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts.
16
These likewise are the ones sown on stony ground who, when they hear the word
immediately receive it with gladness;
17
and they have no root in themselves, and so endure only for a time.
Afterward, when tribulation or persecution arises for the word’s sake, immediately they stumble.
18 Now these are the ones sown among thorns; they are the ones who hear the word,
19 and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other
things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
20
But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it,
and bear fruit:
some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.

Those who overcome bear fruit to the glory of the Father.

John 15:
7
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall
be done for you.

8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

This order, I'd say.
1. Convicted of sin
2. Repenting
3. Born of God
4. Overcoming the world

Scripture is pretty clear that after salvation we are in a spiritual war with Satan Ephesians 6:12, and Paul also makes clear that after we have been saved, there is a continuing conflict between our wanting to walk in the flesh, (that wants us to live in sin)- and our desire to walk after the Holy Spirit that now dwells in us - and Paul warns that choosing to live in sins (works of the flesh), will keep us out of heaven:

And Jesus warns a church in Revelation to repent, and tells them if they overcome, He wont erase their names from the book of life:

Rev 3:3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

Rev 3:4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

Rev 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

And this is the church that is claimed to be the reformed Church, yet Jesus starts off warning them they are dead, that most of them had defiled their white robes (which represent being righteous), and warned to repent - ending by telling them if they overcome, their names will remain in the book of life.

Overcoming is after salvation, and there’s no guarantee we will be an overcomer.
