    "I tell you the truth.
The person that believes in me
will do the same things I have done.
Yes! He will do even greater things than I have done.
Why? Because I am going to the Father.
And if you ask for anything in my name, I will do it for you.
Then the Father's glory will be shown through the Son.
If you ask me for anything in my name, I will do it."

Can you some examples of the same things you've done
and the greater things you've done
    ?

The truth is, we (ourselves) can do nothing without Him.:)

    John 15:5
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

    In HIM!

And who'd want to try, amen?
It's in Him that we live and move and have our being!
And in fact, we died and our life is now hidden with Christ, in God.
    Thanks for the response InSpiritInTruth.

Does anyone else have something to share about :

I tell you the truth. (we can believe it!)
The person that believes in me (that's us)
will do the same things I have done. (WILL DO)
Yes! He will do even greater things than I have done. (Greater?)
Why? Because I am going to the Father. (BECAUSE...)
And if you ask for anything in my name, I will do it for you.
Then the Father's glory will be shown through the Son.
If you ask me for anything in my name, I will do it."

    Let the glory be manifest!!

So ,... wouldnt we be manifesting some of this what God said?
The person that believes in me (that's us)
will do the same things I have done

    Interesting things in that Bible.
    :yum:

What are some of the same things and greater things that the Disciples of Jesus did to whom He was speaking to?

Yes I can, not greater but Jesus has had me do things he had done.

Soon you will hear that Jesus through me has done some things that were greater then he did.

To love our enemies, to preach the gospel, to be faithful unto death; these are all things which Jesus did that we can do. Something we can do which he did not is to baptize one into Christ for the remission of sins, or appoint elders in every church. Sometimes the ordinary things are spectacular when viewed from the right angle.

 Word! Good for you lol.

Can you run that by me again?
Here's the passage in a bit more context:
    11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me;
or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves.

12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing,
and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

What about healing and delivering from demons?
Do you think we should do that too? As Jesus did?

Do you believe that Jesus was telling everyone they would each do greater things then he did? Do you believe he meant that each person would do all the works he did; such as healings, walking on water, delivering people of evil spirits, etc?

I personally believe Jesus was talking about his Church.

The Holy Spirit/Jesus has given me the gift of prophecy, and with that gift I walk in a number of other gifts. Delivering people of evil spirits is not a gift that I care to have. Now if Jesus tells me I am to do that ministry also, then I would.

The people Jesus has shown me to be possessed by an evil spirit have made me want to not be near them. Jesus after telling me they were possessed never had me do anything but give a word and leave.

And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover. Mark 16:17-18

    I don't know.
    Good question.

Thanks for sharing of yourself :)

    Amen!.
Some people claim that this was added, and not there in the originals.

I believe we can, but it takes a discerning spirit to understand the difference between demonic possession/oppression and other things.

And sometimes what we view as ordinary is spectacular. I can add only one thing I've done that Jesus didn't do. I believed in Jesus without seeing him first.

Jn 20:27Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe." 28Thomas answered him, "My Lord and my God!" 29Jesus said to him, "Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

Jesus allowed Himself to be crucified for us. We in turn are to spiritually crucify ourselves which allows Him to live in us, dwell in us, walk in us....

Romans 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.

Galatians 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
He is then able to work through each of us. For instance, the following passage tells us....

Mark 16:17-18 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In My name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
    Through Him we.....

    1. Cast out devils = We teach truth and His truth dispells the devil and his deception...if....one has a love of the truth. Not all do.
John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

2 Thessalonians 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

    2. Speak with new tongues = meaning the Holy Spirit reveals the meaning of His Word and we speak what we hear (not babble!)

    3. Take up serpents and drink any deadly thing = We can face God's enemies (serpents) and drink their poison teaching. It won't hurt us as we have truth. We take up serpents every day...on forums, at work, on television, etc. We see and hear the poison they spew but we have Christ and through Him...truth.

    4. Lay hands on the sick = If the sick (spiritually sick) are willing to see and hear His truths then they shall be healed.
