And Jesus wrote in the dirt...that was God's word.
And we don't even know what Jesus wrote in the dirt.

So what we have is scripture inspired by God 100%.

We have departed from the understanding of God being a Holy and Righteous and judging Justly so much, that the prevailing modern thinking demands a review of the Bible...

Man now knows better than Him, and demands all humans are equal, understanding replaces punishment, the notion of the spiritual is psychological, truth is relative, morality is irrelevant.

I left the church when I was 12 over this issue. I asked the pastor why women could not speak at the pulpit and why homosexuals were condemned. If we are asked to love our neighbor doesn't that include those of other faiths and gender-related issues. I still have not resolved this issue enough to accept every word of the Bible. I do accept what Jesus said, but not Paul. He, to me, is outdated. This is why I communicate directly with the Holy Spirit. That would have gotten me burned at the stake in the middle ages.

Sounds like, so long as God and man agree with you, all will be well, I guess. Unless of course, you are at some point, "outdated" like the Apostle Paul, apparently is.

How about this explanation for that one verse: this is how I understand it.

If you want to get any profitable action out of a horse, you use a whip.
Donkeys are more sensible. You can lead them easily. (This I know from having had both a horse and a donkey.)
But to get any profitable action out of a fool, you'd need a rod on his back.

The point of the proverbs is to get someone to think and not be foolish, so this is one of many ways of painting that picture with words. Those images can have a desired effect on our hearts, if we want to hear the advice. On the other hand, for those demanding that God fit into their own image, they can read these all day long and miss the point. Unfortunately, I also know that one from experience. I'm very thankful for the grace of God that keeps reaching out to call us closer. That's when it makes sense and you can see what the stories mean. Try trusting Him first. He made it all, so you can trust Him.
