Let the Lord guide you in your decisions; I guess you could consider it constant contact when He's working through you already. Prayer is a direct, personal conversation with God (which is also used for decisions.) That answer seemed vague, sorry about that.

We are in direct contact with the Lord all day......although most dont realize it. Even if I make my bed in Hell....He is there. Our every thought is a prayer. He sees what we see and hear what we hear. So it is helps to recount at the end of the day....: What did I show God today? What conversation in my head have i made God listen to? What outside conversations have I let be heard?....

Do we try to stay in contact with the Lord all day, or do we just stop and pray a few times each day?
If you have not read this little book, I highly recommend it (it's certainly a Christian classic). It's available in several versions at Amazon, or for free online here: http://www.pathsoflove.com/pdf/Practice-of-the-Presence-of-God.pdf

Brother Lawrence champions the notion that we are to remain in contact with the God all day long (just like Jesus did when He lived among us), & he gives us practical ways to accomplish that in our lives :)

Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.

6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
