A lot of people misinterpret this verse in Acts 2: "All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them" and they think "tongues" is a holy language that is uttered as the Spirit moves them with no discernable words. "Tongues" is the greek word for languages and you must read further to glean the true meaning on this verse.

When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language?

The gift of tongues more literally is being a gifted communicator. Someone who can speak to others of a different language and/or easily learn other languages. I don't think there has been an event like Pentecost in 2000+ years

But I'm sure someone will tell me I'm wrong so.........

"Healing preacher" gives me so many red flags. So many words, considering I've been growing up in a Pentecostal church, so I'll keep it short...

Tongues in the bible means languages. There's an order to it, and its there to serve the unbelievers as oppose to prophesies, which serves the believers. It served in the bible, for example, as a sign for the Jews. So yes, tongues in the bible served as a sign for the Jews that the Holy Spirit is present during that time. Tongues if it does still exist, suppose to be a sign for unbelievers who have a different tongue than the believer, with a interpreter present. Its like being a native English speaker, the Holy Spirit allow me to speak in french(although I have no knowledge of speaking the language) to reach to a French unbeliever to bring them to Christ, with an interpreter present.

Speaking in another language is not chaotic, and there's no confusion about it. There is purpose if it does come. From my experience, I've never seen it used properly. Its always chaotic, its never use to bring someone to Christ, and there's never an interpreter present. So personally, I've have my doubts that it still exist.

The truest sign of evidence of the Holy Spirit are the fruits of the Spirit. The sign that so many Pentecostals (because im pretty sure the preacher is) need to be seeking, is on the fruits, and those fruits can only come through Godly wisdom that is reveal in the Word and guided by the Holy Spirit. They tend to seek supernatural signs and forsake discernment.

Sigh.
This preacher uses an interpreter when hes in Africa. Sounds like he cant speak in tongues.

I heard a healing preacher on TV say that if you have the Holy Spirit you will speak in tongues. He said its the evidence of the holy spirit. Any comments are welcome.
I speak in English and Greek, so I guess I qualify.

I would put him in a room with several non English speakers of different nationalities and get him to share the gospel. See how far he gets

there's two things going on here. The gift of tongues as taught in 1 Corinthians and the manifestation of tongues as demonstrated in Acts. Acts does not follow the "rules" of 1 Corinthians 12-14 so since both must be true doctrines has been formed specific for the baptism of the HS that may overlap but are not the same as the gifts of the HS. Generally the gifts in 1 Corinthians are are chiefly for building up the Church where what we see in Acts seems to be more focused on evangelism.
