A lot of people misinterpret this verse in Acts 2: "All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them" and they think "tongues" is a holy language that is uttered as the Spirit moves them with no discernable words. "Tongues" is the greek word for languages and you must read further to glean the true meaning on this verse.
When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language?
The gift of tongues more literally is being a gifted communicator. Someone who can speak to others of a different language and/or easily learn other languages. I don't think there has been an event like Pentecost in 2000+ years
But I'm sure someone will tell me I'm wrong so.........
