• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

What would be worse? Getting a divorce which God forbids and subsequently becoming an adulteress for life or committing suicide which is technically murder?

Maybe your head is giving you a false dichotomy to give you a pressure, trying to make you act impulsively (two simple choices are less energy consumptioning than complex choices).

There are many more options than these two. Both options you presented are bad, both would have terrible consequences to other people around you and none of them you should choose.

There is always a good choice (which may be harder, longer, but better) hidden somewhere.

Just remember that God really really loves you and no matter what you can always trust Jesus to be with you.

Getting divorced: She's less free, but she's alive and can live a good life before God still - but that generally won't involve dating or hookups or getting married again, because any of those three while her ex still lives would make her an adulteress. She could avoid adultery by remaining alone or returning to her ex if he is willing.
Suicide: She's no longer alive in this world to live for God. There is controversy over whether or not she would go to Hell because she wouldn't have a chance to repent. Either way, don't put it to the test.

Why do you ask?

Jesus gives one reason for divorce Matthew 5:31,32 furthermore it has been said, whoever divorces his wife, let him give here a certificate of divorce. But i say to you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except sexual immorality, cause her to commit adultery and whoever marries a women who is divorced commits adultery.

a person who is still alive has a chance to repent. someone who murders themselves has no repentance left in him because he is dead. the worst sin is self murder a person can have a change of mind in adultery also it might not be adultery if the persons spouse sinned and commited sexual immorality. also all it takes is one sin unrepented of to send you to hell.

Nonsense. There are thousans of sins in our life we do not realize, we do not remember anymore etc. Its impossible to repent from every individual sin.

Your view would lead to constant anxiety and fear about losing salvation, not to peace and joy we are called to.

If you're not In-Christ-a believer, it doesn't really matter. You're destiny is eternal separation for you Creator Lord/God & Savior Jesus the Christ.

If you are In-Christ/A believer. Whatever sin you may be struggling with. I would meditate on this verse:

AMP Bible Bible Gateway passage: Romans 5 - Amplified Bible

Rom 5:20 But the Law came to increase and expand [the awareness of] the trespass [by defining and unmasking sin]. But where sin increased, [God’s remarkable, gracious gift of] grace [His unmerited favor] has surpassed it and increased all the more.

There is only one sin God grace won't forgive: Rejecting/Not believing/trusting in Jesus sin atoning death & resurrection. Best wishes, JJ

I cannot be assumed that suicide is a sin because we do not know the mental state of the person at the time they acted to end their life. It is quite likely that they were in such mental pain and disorientation that they did not understand what they were doing. They may not have intended to kill themselves.
There are three conditions that make an act a mortal sin. Now for a sin to be mortal, it must affect all three powers of the soul: the intellect, the passions, and the will. The sin must be grave matter (which relates to the intellect), willed, and not so influenced by the passions so as to hinder deliberate consent. Explain the three requirements for a mortal sin to exist. | Freedom's Discourse
