Ephesians 5:8. For you were once darkness, but now light in the Lord.
Walk as children of light.
Jesus prepared His disciples to be “shepherds of His flock.”
For this reason He taught them:
Matthew 5:29&30. If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away! And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away! It is better for you that one part of your body should be destroyed, than that your whole body go into Gehenna.
This teaching is given to avoid the curse on a worthless shepherd.
Zechariah 11:17 Woe to the worthless shepherd who deserts the flock!
May a sword fell his arm and his right eye! May his arm be all withered
and his right eye totally blinded!
When we fail to maintain “a single eye,''
we wander into darkness and lead others astray.
Matthew 23:13 & 15. Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in nor allow those who desire to enter. For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.
Luke 8:17. For nothing is hidden that will not become evident, nor secret that shall not be known and come into open view.
