Dis you ever think you were a donkey...?

You have probably all read this at one time or another but did you ever think that it could refer to you?

To save you digging out your Bibles, I'll reproduce the passage here....

When they had approached Jerusalem and had come to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,
2 saying to them, "Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied there and a colt with her; untie them and bring them to Me.
3 "If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, "The Lord has need of them,' and immediately he will send them."
4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:
6 The disciples went and did just as Jesus had instructed them,
7 and brought the donkey and the colt, and laid their coats on them; and He sat on the coats.
8 Most of the crowd spread their coats in the road, and others were cutting branches from the trees and spreading them in the road.
9 The crowds going ahead of Him, and those who followed, were shouting,
"Hosanna to the Son of David; BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD; Hosanna in the highest!"
10 When He had entered Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, "Who is this?"
11 And the crowds were saying, "This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth in Galilee."

Imagine yourself as the donkey...does this sound like you:
    • You were tied up under the ownership of another (the devil)
    • Because you were tied up, you were not able to go very far, and, to put it as politely as I can, you were getting dirty in your own muck
    • Jesus sends messangers to the owner (the devil) to tell him that The Master has need of the donkey (you)
    • The original owner had to let the donkey (you) go when he knew that the Master wanted the donkey - he couldn't argue or object
    • The donkey (you) was not cleaned up but came to Jesus in the state in which he was found
    • Jesus rode on the donkey (you). The donkey did as the Master commanded
    • As people saw Jesus on the donkey they shouted hallelujahs to Him, they didn't say what a beautiful donkey. (They will see Jesus and not the person you once were - you are to show Jesus to the world)

A few thoughts for you to ponder!

Now, have you ever come across an animal in the Bible which you believe to be significant or has meant something to you?

    Let's hear about it......

    Many blessings.....
We teamed up with Faith Counseling. Can they help you today?

By the way - it should say "Did you ever think you were a donkey?"
    It's my dyslexic fingers again....
  3. Josiah

    Josiah Super suction ears away!

Yes, I've been called a "Donkey" before (My wife does it all the time) :D (Joking. She usually says something like "Idiot")

    (No, really...Just joking! Uhhh....)

But seriously - Martin I must say I've NEVER heard that analogy before. That's great! It just goes to show you how deep and ponderable the Bible really is. (Not to mention "alive")

For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
