i know that typically, the bible says that fasting is about not eating. but it does mention that the fast that God likes best is that in which people "fast" from doing wickedness (Isaiah 58:6). so, extending that a bit metaphorically, it is perhaps a type of "fast" to avoid certain activities and habitual actions that can inhibit us spiritually and that can perhaps clog our spiritual arteries. and along that line of thought, here is a short little vid i created about fasting and prayer that you may find encouraging (or challenging): improve your prayer life...KILL YOUR TV! - YouTube

I've read this thread many times but finally I also managed to watch the video as well. xD It was great, thank you for posting it. As for myself I suppose I don't have a big problem with watchin too much tv, but I should definitely kill my smart phone! The internet, at least much of the social media has hooked me a bit too badly and is not all too useful either.

Distraction is the enemy of distinction. We are a distracted generation with the TV ranking as no 1 on our 'distractor'. Once we can get that out of the way then we can really give quality time and focus to God.

If you're thinking about fasting TV and media, you might spend one day a week with no TV watching and spend more time that day in prayer. Just a suggestion -- you can do it anyway you want.
