To be honest, I forgot about that story just now. So I looked up the apologetics for that. The answer given by annihilationists is that the Rich Man and Lazarus are in Hades (Lazarus is across a gulf in "Abraham's bosom".) This is a holding place prior to the final judgment. This part isn't eternal. After the judgment, the soul would be annihilated.How do you account for the story of the rich man begging for a drop of water in Luke 16:19-31. I don't see any discernible message from that other than a warning against eternal conscious torment.
