Yes, Jesus died on the cross.

And was crucified for us (Mark 15:25; 1Cointhians 15:3)
under Pontius Pilate, (John 19:6)
and suffered, (Mark 8:31)
and was buried. (Luke 23:53; 1Corinthians 15:4)
And the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures. (Luke 24:1 1Corinthians 15:4)

Did Jesus die on the cross? Like is that where He physically died?
It says "he gave up the ghost," which means his spirit left his body, which is the definition of physical death. His body had no life in it at that time, and this happened while he was on the cross.

If you want to do more research on whether Jesus actually died on the Cross, that is called the Swoon Theory. Look it up.

Swoon Theory = Jesus did not actually die on the Cross. Maybe the Romans only thought he was dead, so they took him down prematurely, where he recovered in the tomb.

Yes he physically died while he was mentally and spiritually tortured for our sins on top of that like he was suffering wrath of God the Father for the sins of humanity so yea he was suffering like a person would be suffering if he went to hell after he died.

John 19:30-35

The Apostle John said:
30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

32 Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.

33 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:

34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.

35 And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.

Any evidence outside of the bible?

Died on the cross (the OP) is the relatively easy part to believe. There is evidence from some outside sources such as Josephus. While the Bible is not outside of itself, it is tough to argue that the audience it is speaking to would not have at least been familiar with the events leading to and including the crucifixion. The rose again part is the much more difficult part to prove.

There are certainly non-Christian sources which talk about what the Christians of the time believed, and while the miraculous parts aren't accepted, there doesn't seem to be any serious skepticism that a Jewish man was crucified. That's hardly incredible. The incredible part is that His followers believed that a crucified Jewish man was, in fact, risen from the dead, alive, and Lord of heaven and earth.

Any evidence outside of the bible?

Tacitus mentions that Jesus (called "Christus" by Tacitus) "suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius". Lucian, a 2nd century Greek satirist, wrote that Christians worshipped a man who was crucified. There are others who mention ancient Christianity, but these are the ones I know of who mention that Jesus was crucified.

Here is a link for you to a short article on some early sources that mention Christ and/or Christians:

Ancient Evidence for Jesus from Non-Christian Sources

It should be noted that the Roman soldiers who crucified Christ would probably have been executed themselves if they would have failed to ensure that the person crucified was dead, and the gospel of John notes that a Roman soldier indeed pierced Jesus' side with a spear to ensure that He was dead. Considering how often people were crucified by the Romans, it is a certainty that they were competent at it, and given the punishment waiting for their failure, they would have been diligent to carry out the execution effectively.

Hope this helps;
Michael

Yes:

Mat 27:50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

Mar 15:37 And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.
Mar 15:39 And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.
Mar 15:44 And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.

Luk 23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

Joh 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

Joh 19:33 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
Joh 19:34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
Joh 19:35 And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
