We hope to see you as a part of our community soon and God Bless!

  2. The forums in the Christian Congregations category are now open only to Christian members. Please review our current Faith Groups list for information on which faith groups are considered to be Christian faiths. Christian members please remember to read the Statement of Purpose threads for each forum within Christian Congregations before posting in the forum.
  3. Please note there is a new rule regarding the posting of videos. It reads, "Post a summary of the videos you post . An exception can be made for music videos.". Unless you are simply sharing music, please post a summary, or the gist, of the video you wish to share.
  4. There have been some changes in the Life Stages section involving the following forums: Roaring 20s, Terrific Thirties, Fabulous Forties, and Golden Eagles. They are changed to Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, and Golden Eagles will have a slight change.
  5. CF Staff, Angels and Ambassadors; ask that you join us in praying for the world in this difficult time, asking our Holy Father to stop the spread of the virus, and for healing of all affected.
  6. We are no longer allowing posts or threads that deny the existence of Covid-19. Members have lost loved ones to this virus and are grieving. As a Christian site, we do not need to add to the pain of the loss by allowing posts that deny the existence of the virus that killed their loved one. Future post denying the Covid-19 existence, calling it a hoax, will be addressed via the warning system.

Featured Did Jesus come to establish a religion called, "Christianity", or The Order of Melchizedek?

He did say that he had founded his church and he commissioned people to spread his religious teachings.

    "No" does not apply.
    It's one or the other.
Since this is a 'christian forum', I was expecting people might use scripture to back up their assertions.
Just imagine, using the WORD OF GOD as the center of your christian belief.

Forgive my interpretation of your punctuation. If it was an either/or, then the comma should technically be left out. :)

However, I will maintain that He did neither. He did not come to establish a religion, and He did not come to establish the "Order of Melchizedek".

He came to do His Father's will. Neither of those things was His Father's will.

Hebrews 10 is good reading on the topic, but don't just limit it to that chapter.

Since the "Fathers Commandment is the Life of the Ages" - John 12:50.
Jesus came and IS coming (to those awake) to establish the priesthood of Life - Hebrews 7:11
If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

Right, that is not why He came.

    Put it this way;

Don't miss the simplicity of why He came, because of the analogy of Who He Is. (Not seeing the forest because of the tree's). :)

Neither, He called believers to follow Him.

This is why the phenomena of followers was initially called 'the way'.

You might read Hebrews 5,6 and 7 to also correct your thinking on what following him means.

The simplicity is to have the Light of Life - John 8:12.
No more darkness and no more death.

Yes, that is EXACTLY why he came - to reverse the curse of death that Adam brought into the Earth.

You Quote of John 12:50 is from an obscure translation (Weymouth)

Why not use the usual rendering 'Eternal life' ???

Right, He came so we could have life - life in Him.

Not to establish a priesthood, nor to establish a religion.

    Nope.
He has made us Kings and Priests - Rev 1:6 and 5:10.
Spiritually at first, question is, will you actualize it physically?

The greek is Zoe Anionious - The Life of the Ages.
If you want to be academic about it. Most don't -
They want to fantasize about 'Life in Heaven after you die physically'.
    I like the original.

Of course, that is a result of His coming - but not why He came.

Paul wrote it very personally, of which I am inclined to also state the same -

"The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost." 1 Timothy 1:15

Jesus came to die. Plain and simple. Through His death, we have received great things(He also), not least of which is a Priesthood - but that's not why He came - it's a result of it.

Then how do you rationalize him saying that he founded his church? That obviously cannot refer to just continuing on with the old religion of the Hebrews.

Of course it is not a continuation of the Hebrew religion. His Church is simply those who He calls out. It’s not a system or religion.
