  1. Welcome to Christian Forums, a forum to discuss Christianity in a friendly surrounding.

Your voice is missing! You will need to register to be able to join in fellowship with Christians all over the world.

We hope to see you as a part of our community soon and God Bless!

  2. The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I am praying to the Generic God who is different than Christian God due to ocd. i was having thoughts about using a pirated version of windows 8.1. i was worrying and i do not know i maybe told the Generic God that i was going to buy windows when I had money. since the windows are older i did not think that would be expensive. the problem is that i must order online the windows 8.1 with the key activation which is almost 60 or 80 euros i think. I do not have that money. so i did not buy it. but ocd was telling me stuff like "you maybe made a promise" and i was having thoughts like "oh no i hope i will not hear someone opening his/her door from their apartment" i do not know for how many seconds i was thinking that. maybe for a minute? and in the same time i was like " if it happens it will be just a coincidence" and boom i heard someone opening their door. my ocd is telling me stuff like "maybe that is a sign from the Generic God that you made a promise to buy windows and you did not" i did not make any promise. i think I was saying to the Generic God stuff like "i guess it is a sin using windows pirated so i will buy it whem I have money" ma i thought they will be cheap like 20 euros but they cost more. and my dad and bro give me money til i find a job. if i tell my brother about it, he will mock me and tell me that i am crazy. but i worry . due to ocd, due to the coincidence. what should i do? should I turn off my pc til i buy windows?

I don’t mean to sound harsh but there is only one God.

Personally, I think you should pray and ask God for discernment. I’m really sorry that you’re OCD is hampering you. I’ll pray for you.

God is not generic, you can just pray to your true heavenly Father in the name of Christ, He knows who He is, you don't have to worry about it any more.

Your OCD has no control over God's love towards you. We can't promise Him anything. You can do whatever you want with your computer stuff. It doesn't really matter. Any coincidences or signs, especially considering your illness, can and should be ignored, and you don't have to look for them or pay any attention to them. It's fine.

    1) The generic god doesn't exist
    2) Even if your promise was made to the real God, you haven't broke the promise because you do not have the money to buy Windows yet.
    3) Yes, you should turn off your pc until you buy Windows 8.1- unless you can install linux or something else for free or at a price affordable for you. What matters is not what you said to the generic god, but what the real God has said to you.

"Thou shalt not steal." (Exodus 20:15)

"Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; that useth his neighbour's service without wages, and giveth him not for his work" (Jeremiah 22:13)

"Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the Lord? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain." (Proverbs 30:9)

This coincidence thing is an obsession, so that part needs to be treated as OCD. Can you find a therapist to help you do that? If you are uncomfortable using the pirated OS, perhaps you can try one of the alternate solutions mentioned here, or wait until you have enough money and buy the real version. I think it is your OCD that is making you feel you have to do something about it RIGHT NOW, though.
