Or maybe CNN is trying to get more viewers. Either way, here's the narrative they're already pushing....

(CNN)As the United States-backed government in Afghanistan fell to the Taliban and US troops raced to leave the country, White supremacist and anti-government extremists have expressed admiration for what the Taliban accomplished, a worrying development for US officials who have been grappling with the threat of domestic violent extremism.

hey, well maybe you should address the "narrative" of the far right...

For example, a quote taken from the Proud Boy to Fascist Pipeline Telegram channel, said: "These farmers and minimally trained men fought to take back their nation back from globohomo. They took back their government, installed their national religion as law, and executed dissenters ... If white men in the west had the same courage as the Taliban, we would not be ruled by Jews currently," SITE found.
"Globohomo" is a derogatory word used to insult "globalists," the term used by conspiracy promoters to describe their enemy (the evil global elite who control the media, finance, political system etc), according to SITE.

Wow...this makes no sense whatsoever. Racists supporting something that isn't white? Really?
Most white supremacists in America dont want the whole world to be white. They just want America to be racially "pure". They can appreciate when other people move their own countries in that direction, no matter what 'race' they are.

Well, is there truth to the narrative or not? Are White supremacists and anti-government extremists expressing admiration for the Taliban or not?

It seems to be widely reported from a variety of sources (CNN, Al Jazeera, NYT) talking about US, European and Indian (Hindu) supremacist reactions. The gist seems to be "If they (the Taliban) can do it why can't we?".

I remember right wing "thinker" Dinesh D'Souza expressing sympathy with Osama Bin Laden's disgust with the west after 9-11.

There is a certain flavor of conservatism that transcends cultures.
...say people who haven't a clue what "Conservatism" means.

Even the wildly biased CNN article knew better than to go there, instead contenting itself with talking as though a handful of nuts that Conservatives would have nothing to do with were a serious threat.

These people are typically self-described as" conservative", with most people on all 'sides' nodding in agreement.

People across the political spectrum describe D'Souza as a conservative, quite reasonably. And the conservative bent towards traditional values is exactly what the taliban stands for. That dovetails perfectly with D'Souza's grudging respect for Bin Laden's motivations.

You missed the whole point of the article. By their constantly use of the term "right wing" you were supposed to think "Republicans" and "Conservatives."

Of course the writer knew better than to come right out and say it, so instead there was talk about Proud Boys and other miniscule outfits of no particular significance. However, not a single name of one of these alleged White Supremacists was included. Instead there were references to things allegedly "similar" to whatever they were talking about and to unnamed "online forums" that we were told are "Trump-supporting." So because most Republicans are, as a matter of fact, Trump supporting, you get the point. Right?

That, and a claim that this unidentified threat is connected to January 6, ties it all up neatly--for anyone who is not paying attention, that is.

We've known for a long time that the "alt" Right looks to Islamic fundamentalists with thinly-disguised envy... we should be worried if they start taking pointers.

Odd, considering the phrase "right wing" appears nowhere in the article.

The phrase "white supremacist" appears a few times, however -- and it seems that you have thought "right wing" -- I wonder why...?

That's nonsense. Even if it were true and "most people on all sides" really were that badly misinformed, nothing is changed about CNN's propaganda.

People across the political spectrum describe D'Souza as a conservative, quite reasonably.
Are you saying that D'Souza is a white supremacist, then? I can't wait for your explanation of that theory.

No. He's a far right cultural conservative, which aligns him with the emotional drive behind white supremacism - though not that particular manifestation, obviously.

Yes he is.

Sorry, but that's just wrong, and any attempt to tie this non-white writer to white supremacy is shameful as well as laughable. Besides D'Sousa has next to nothing to do with CNN's article anyway.

Let's move on.

Sorry, but that's just wrong. And it has virtually nothing to do with CNN's "hit piece" anyway.

Let's move on.
Its dead center on topic. Its evidence against your denial of cross-cultural conservative sympathy for extremists around the globe.

I'm not saying this is typical of conservatives. But this attitude is a significant part of the movement, such that you can read it right from one its big time blowhards.
