Detrimental to mental health?

I am considering leaving CF, although most likely not permanently. But I feel like it is exacerbating my depression. Has anyone else ever felt like this?

It can cause stress, if you end up debating another poster. Instead of leaving, try only posting on uplifting threads. Stay away from those threads which might trigger tension.

Sorry to read that, buddy. CF sometimes has that effect on me, mainly if I compare myself to others. People seem to be doing so much so well, both spiritually and otherwise. People are so well educated and happy and active in life it is quite painful to observe sometimes. Still, comparison is the thief of joy and all that. The politics sometimes gets me down too, seems like some people are full of hate and judgement which is depressing. Well, I hope to see you again when you are feeling a bit better. Take care of yourself, be kind to yourself.

I agree. You have to pick and choose who you respond to. After awhile you know certain topics or people to avoid. I have tried posting purely positive and Christ centered topics in the past, and a handful of serious followers of Christ have responded, but most seem to want to argue and prove that they are right as they rapid fire their proof texts showing off what a top Bible gun they are. In other words you are depressed by pride of men.

I am learning that slowly but surely. Or a topic quickly descends into an argument, sometimes spanning several pages, with the type of behavior you mentioned.

i know what you mean in the past i have often felt like you. I found that overall the forums here are death traps for depressed people. now when i'm down i go nowhere else apart of the Depression forum because i feel safest there - no debating allowed - but even then wolves in sheep clothing can enter at times. it is about being awake and there will be loving people jumping to your support when someone does smash down on you. Truth be told i have gotten more support from loving caring people i met on the depression forum than anywhere else in the world.

Publicly that is. Jesus and my wife and kids have been greatest but friends at C.F rank a BIG third in my books when it comes to support. i have developed some really strong friendships with a dozen people or so over the years which has been great as a support net work extending even onto face book.

So please don't give up too quickly.
