Thanks Wayholka.Money can be a huge enabler for selfish and sinful behavior. For example, I remember seeing this one YouTube comment asking why doesn't anyone ever try to oppose George Soros for his alleged funding of many bad things in the world. Another user replied, "Would you try to stop him if he walked into your office, dropped a sack of money on your desk and then walked out?" It's an enabler for the rich person because he can use his wealth to place himself above the law and it's an enabler for the person accepting the money since it represents what Edmund Burke once said: All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.
When you look at lottery winners, you find that as many as 70% of them go broke within five years. Many get in trouble with the law, many blow it all on unnecessary things like drugs, parties, and expensive luxury, and many even become targets of very dishonest people with a strong sense of entitlement. It ranges from exploiting kindness to scamming to stealing to even murder just to get a slice of the pie. It's why in places like Europe and Australia they keep the identity of lottery winners a secret because of those kind of people.
Finally, greed is also permanently destroying our environment and causing long term health risks in our descendants just for a temporary spike in profits. There will come a time where our greed cannot sustain the planet and Jesus said that if these days were not cut short, there would be no one left to save. One of the reasons for that I believe is that our planet will eventually become unlivable should we continue to exist without God's intervention.
Kind of cuts across a lot of North American life, doesn't it?1 Timothy 6:9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.

As well as other countries.Kind of cuts across a lot of North American life, doesn't it?
For the believer, prayer and the Scriptures and Christian fellowship must come first.
Yes, I think Paul's thought should be completed so that is read in context.1 Timothy 6:9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.

Yes, and he says that those who desire to be rich fall into a snare. Does the scripture you posted contradict the one i posted?Yes, I think Paul's thought should be completed so that is read in context.
1Ti 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
What Paul is talking about is to love money so much that one will do anything to get it, such as breaking the law. There is nothing wrong with making a lot of money if it is made honestly and shared with those in need. There is nothing wrong with being given a lot of money, it is a greedy heart that is the problem.
How could the scripture contradict the scripture? But it is good to read the complete thought don't you think?Yes, and he says that those who desire to be rich fall into a snare. Does the scripture you posted contradict the one i posted?
Of course there is no contradiction. Paul clearly says that those who desire to be rich err from the faith. He also says that we should be content with food and clothing. How could the scripture contradict the scripture? But it is good to read the complete thought don't you think?
Those who desire to be rich fall into a snare For, because,.....they love money to the point of coveting it.
Coveting is not a normal desire for the right reasons but a longing for money that drives one to take what isn't theirs and often by unrighteous means.
"Thou shall not covet"
Focusing on money to the point of be a slave to it.
Yes, to be content, in other words not to be discontent. Contentment does not mean that one cannot prosper in a contented manner. Neither does it mean to avoid prospering in financial matters. Indeed if we all just had enough to care for ourselves we wouldn't have the means to help the poor, widows, and orphans, as we are told to do. Then we would have a contradiction in the scriptures.Of course there is no contradiction. Paul clearly says that those who desire to be rich err from the faith. I never said we couldnt prosper and help the poor. Desiring to be rich is a snare however, it causes us to err from the faith. Paul said we should be content with food and clothing. Thats the faith we have been taught.Yes, to be content, in other words not to be discontent. Contentment does not mean that one cannot prosper in a contented manner. Was the Apostle John out of line in praying this for his friend?
3Jn 1:1 The Elder to Gaius the beloved, whom I love in truth!
3Jn 1:2 beloved, concerning all things I desire thee to prosper, and to be in health, even as thy soul doth prosper,
