Inexperienced and a poor choice. This was the year for the LP to gain a real foot hold, to build on the gains in 2016. Instead they are putting out a ticket with 0 name recognition, 0 real governing or policy experience, 0 chance of getting to the threshold needed to be a "National" party.

Probably so. But the party also seemed to be in no mood to nominate another experienced, former Republican governor or Congressman, who would campaign poorly and appear not to be completely committed to the LP.

Justin Amash might have remedied all of that, but he said he wouldn't run because he expected 2020 to be a down year for third parties, a view shared by other observers. OR Amash, who withdrew only days after announcing that he would run, may have seen something in the mood of the party that he didn't like.

When is ever an "up year" for third parties? Libs and Greens are like the side salad at the all you can eat buffet.
