Bloomberg is reporting that leading Democrat William Pascrell who is scheduled to lead the House Ways and Means Committee has doused cold water on the recently concluded USMCA (United States Mexico and Canada Trade Agreement) suggesting that legislative and enforcement changes are necessary before it passes in the House. Is this the beginning of unraveling all the legislative changes made the last two years? The market would love this? I suppose that Senate will have to approve it as well. I hope that at least mainstream Americans would benefit from the proposed changes.

I thought Republicans were now the party of the anti-globalists and the anti-free-traders. Wouldn't that also make them at odds with corporate America?
If you're expecting consistency in far-right talking points, you're just going to end up disappointed.

Expecting? No, lolol. But articulating the inconsistencies helps me remember them.

Certain elements of the party and base are. Others are not.

Folks, I just watched this piece on CNBC:

Next year will be the Democrats vs. corporate America

Not sure what it all means to us investors (which would be all of us), but sure don't like the sound of this. Any and all inputs are welcome. Thanks and peace in Christ :).

As an investor, you should pay more attention to interest rates (i.e., the Fed.) When you think interest rates will be on an upward trajectory, that's the time to take some stock profits.

The idea that corporate America and the Democratic Party are somehow at odds with one another is laughable.

The idea that there's anything remotely right-wing about corporate America these days is laughable.

You're correct, Corporate America has both parties firmly in its pocket.

That's true. Most of corporate America tends towards Rockerfeller style Republicanism and small c conservatism. The right wing in this country has morphed it's own thing.

Because we saw how Democrats put the hammer down so hard during Obama’s presidency..... And how hard they put Corporate America through the wringer when they held the house and senate at the end of George W Bush’s presidency.... And they completely gutted corporate America during Clinton’s presidency... There was nothing left besides charred ashes...

Oh, wait - none of that stuff happened....

Seriously - where are they getting most of their money? Because it’s not coming from joe six-pack and his $5.00 donation...

aside from my production business, I do mutual funds for Primerica.

90% of people earn 10% of the money while the remaining 10% of the people earn the remaining 90% of the money. Investments, IRAs, 401Ks, stocks, etc are where most real wealth and money is built. There are people making $60k a year living off $40k and investing $20k a year. If you do this for just a few years, you can retire on your investments (given you leave the principal alone and live off the interest). Most aggressive accounts today have a 12% return rate. This is great but also kind of scary

It's good to know that I'm $134,600 below average for my age bracket.

I'm $67,400 below mine. I have no credit cards, I rent and my car is paid for. 29 going on 30 next year

I agree, but i'd go one step further and say the idea that corporate America and either major political party are somehow at odds with one another is laughable.

Historically, the economy flourishes under Democrats because Democratic policies favor the middle class over the 1%.

That translates to lots of shoppers, as the limping middle class, wounded and scarred by Republicans' trying to end the ACA, gut unions, eliminate minimum wages, cut Social Security and Medicare, are revitalized by Democratic policies and protection.

Put it this way. You're opening a restaurant--and the middle class is shrinking and hurting. Can you stay open if only 1% can afford your meals? Can you sell a product that only 1% can afford? Can you run a landscaping business? OF COURSE YOU CAN'T.

The only way America can prosper is if the many can afford those things--Republicans don't get this, and they are destroying our economy with unnecessary tax cuts, gigantic deficits, and middle-class benefits hits.

I have yet to see democrats favoring the middle class. They favor the lower class. They are the robin hood of politics. If people truly had issues with pay, the way things are, ect, they could do what was done decades ago and force a major strike. It's been done around the world but only works some of the time. Democrats today are mostly leaning towards socialism. Look at socialistic countries. They have no middle class at all. They make things so hard for middle class that they fall into the poverty line.

Union membership is lower than ever. They were successfully busted by politics and right to work states.

1. Unions were derided as being socialist or communist.
2. Could you provide an example or two of a socialist country?

It’s not about what you see. It’s jyst the fact of what democratic policies do. For instance, raising the minimum wage. More people have $$ to buy stuff.

to compensate for the wage hike, the "stuff" becomes more expensive... and changes nothing. Denmark pays people roughly $21 USD an hour but a McDonald's happy meal is $15 USD....
