  1. Welcome to Christian Forums, a forum to discuss Christianity in a friendly surrounding.

Your voice is missing! You will need to register to be able to join in fellowship with Christians all over the world.

We hope to see you as a part of our community soon and God Bless!

  2. The forums in the Christian Congregations category are now open only to Christian members. Please review our current Faith Groups list for information on which faith groups are considered to be Christian faiths. Christian members please remember to read the Statement of Purpose threads for each forum within Christian Congregations before posting in the forum.
  3. Please note there is a new rule regarding the posting of videos. It reads, "Post a summary of the videos you post . An exception can be made for music videos.". Unless you are simply sharing music, please post a summary, or the gist, of the video you wish to share.
  4. There have been some changes in the Life Stages section involving the following forums: Roaring 20s, Terrific Thirties, Fabulous Forties, and Golden Eagles. They are changed to Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, and Golden Eagles will have a slight change.
  5. CF Staff, Angels and Ambassadors; ask that you join us in praying for the world in this difficult time, asking our Holy Father to stop the spread of the virus, and for healing of all affected.
  6. We are no longer allowing posts or threads that deny the existence of Covid-19. Members have lost loved ones to this virus and are grieving. As a Christian site, we do not need to add to the pain of the loss by allowing posts that deny the existence of the virus that killed their loved one. Future post denying the Covid-19 existence, calling it a hoax, will be addressed via the warning system.

Large technology firms have been shutting down conservative sites across internet like Parler. Twitter banned Trump.

Is this the end of freedom of speech and the beginning of a new totalitarianism of woke thought police?

Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany and de facto leader of the free world, in America's absence, these last few years, finds Trump's Twitter ban problematic

Parler isn't Conservative, unless you think that white supremacy, anti semitism and neo Nazism are Conservative. Do you think those things are conservative?

Would you prefer those voices go underground? Germans like Merkel would be horrified at the suggestion of supporting Nazis, so no that is not the motive here. This is about freedom of speech. A substantial number of Americans subscribe to these ideologies, is it not bettter these opinions are in the open?

Breitbart still exists. The Blaze still exists. Fox News, The Federalist, National Review, American Thinker... all still exist.

The only sites getting shut down are cesspools of lies, hate, and violence. You should be welcoming the purge, but instead you're equating them with "conservative." What does it say about conservatism if you can't tell the difference between "conservative" and that garbage?

Twitter banned Trump for his many violations of their rules...rules he agreed to. Trump had his account suspended on Wednesday for violating Twitter's ban on the glorification of violence. Trump immediately engaged in the same behavior as soon as his account was restored.

The issue here is not an attack on freedom of speech but in the demand for the freedom from consequences for what is said.

You are publishing your opinions of Christianforums.com...which has numerous rules that you agreed to follow and if you choose to violate those rules you can have your account here suspended or closed...do you think Christian forums is a threat to the freedom of speech?

It's not even a question of whether free speech is being suppressed and censored right now. We're literally watching it happen right in front of us. It's abhorrent and it's going to awaken the American people like we haven't seen in a generation or more.

No. The government is not controlling the speech, private companies are. This is similar to the NFL trying to keep athletes from kneeling during the National Anthem. There clauses, in contracts, which allow private companies to the to control what the general public sees and which can cause them financial harm to the companies. It's legalized censorship.

People don't seem to understand what freedom of speech means. Just a bunch of fear mongering .
Twitter google and amazon don't have to let anyone operate that they don't want to
. Those are private companies .

I've noticed some people on this site who seem to have forgotten that they're being censored because there are distinct rules against flaming & goading and saying that another member isn't a Christian.

I don't know about you, but I'm tired of listening to some conservatives who cry wolf and essentially play the victim. As in the story of The Boy Who Cried Wolf, eventually other people stopped listening.

Did you go on Parler o get this information first hand? Or, did you learn this from, I don't know, Twitter, Google, and places like that? See the issue? Nah, I doubt it.

Could be. This is not unlike the way events unfolded in Venezuela.

You seem to have missed the most important point of all. While you (and Twitter) can say what you've posted here, other posts calling for violence that were posted by people who are NOT sympathetic to the President remain available for all to see. Guess what? There are no reports about the Twitter bosses having any interest in suspending those accounts. Why do you suppose that is?

Combine that with warnings to private companies not to hire former White House personnel and the calls for retribution on Trump supporters.

Sounds like socialism and totalitarianism to me.

No one "shut down" Parler. Companies just refuse to host the platform anymore. A company is perfectly able to determine what products it carries. Are you suggesting that a company should not have that right?

So people and companies should not have the right to be suspicious of individuals and not wish to do business with those individuals?

Thousands of people have been suspended from Twitter for that exact thing. Have you not seen politicos complaining about losing followers?

So you believe private companies should allow everything to be posted to their platforms? Do they not have a right to choose what's on their platforms?

And in the United States . . . you might find it a problem to go into a number of churches, here, and stand up while everyone is there, in order to teach or preach what you believe.

I have been shut up while I was still talking and had not spoken for even a minute.

But I would say that has worked out for good, thanks to God.

Having mass-audience set-ups may be lazy. We need to be free - - able to speak what is good in close and personal sharing, even as family . . . not merely in public mass-production of messages.
