Fulfillment of Daniel’s “Abomination of Desolation

For almost 2000 years Christians (both Catholic and Protestant) have correctly understood the Last Saints “shall see

historical fulfillment of an event commonly known as Daniel’s “Abomination of Desolation” during the period known

as the Great Tribulation – and, as one of the last “signs” before His Return, those Saints would “flee into the Mountains”.

In fact, “seeing” the fulfillment of Daniel’s “Abomination” is considered to be THE most important “sign” of the end.

Note: The terms “Holy Place”, “Judaea” and “mountains” have spiritual meanings and don’t represent physical places.

This fact is easily proven (below) through harmony of Scripture – with almost two dozen other (related) passages.

Mat. 24:15 When ye [Last Saints] therefore SHALL SEE the Abomination of Desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet,
stand in the Holy Place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16 Then let them [Last Saints] which be in Judaea
flee into the mountains:

The fulfillment of the Last Saints “seeing” Daniel’s “Abomination” is one of the “unsealed” mysteries the Bible PROMISED

the Last Saints “shall understand” (and preach) during the “time-of-the-end” or the “Season and Time” on earth after destruction

of the Fourth Beast (after the Revelations Beast/the Great Tribulation/the Rule of the Anti-Christ during Satan’s “Little Season”).

In other words, the Lord does not Return until after the Last Saints “see” Daniel’s Abomination and they “flee to the mountains”.

However, the Bible also PROMISED that understanding of Daniel’s prophecies would remain “sealed” (from all Saints) until

the “time-of-the-end”, guaranteeing the Truth about Daniel’s prophecies could not be known until the current “Season and Time”.

After the Fourth Beast is destroyed, the Last Saints “shall understand” Daniel’s prophecies (for the first time in history), showing

all previous interpretations of Daniel’s prophecies MUST be wrong – because they were made before the mystery was “unsealed”.

Note: the notion that “time-of-the-end” refers to the Christian Kingdom is immediately destroyed by ONE VERSE [Daniel 7:11-12].

The implications of Daniel 12:8-10 are threefold:

(1) No Saint could have possibly known the Truth about Daniel’s prophecies until the “time-of-the-end”.

(2) During that “time-of-the-end” all of the Last Saints “shall understand” Daniel’s “unsealed” prophecies.

(3) Only the Last Saints “shall understand”. None of the unsaved understand or accept the “unsealed” Truths.

Dan 12:8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the END of these things?
9 And He said, Go thy way, Daniel; for the words are closed up and SEALED till the time-of-the-end.
10 Many [Virgins] shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the Wicked [Virgins] shall do wickedly:
and NONE of the wicked shall understand; but the Wise [Virgins] SHALL UNDERSTAND.

The Bible promises the Last Saints preach the NAMES of Daniel’s Four Beasts, the NAME of Daniel’s “Little Horn”,

The NAME of Daniel’s ten “Kings/Horns”, and the NATURE of the “Season and Time” on earth after the Fourth Beast.

In historical fulfillment of that promise the Saints now reveal “unsealed” mysteries of Daniel’s “Abomination of Desolation”.

----------------

Daniel's "Abomination of Desolation" is Satan RULING over the Last Saints (through the actions of his Anti-Christ)

during the Fourth “Kingdom of Heaven” on earth. (aka the Revelations Beast/the Great Tribulation/Satan’s Little Season).

The following passages show the “Little Horn” or “False ProphetRULING over the “wheat and tares” of the Fourth Beast.

Although the “wheat and tares” are called by many different names, such as: the “Kingdom”, and the “Holy Place” and
the “Temple of God”, and the “Host and Stars”, and the “Mighty and Holy People”, and the “Sanctuary and Host
and the “Holy People”. The Anti-Christ RULING over the “wheat and tares” of the Fourth Beast is shown as:

(1) The “Abomination” of the Anti-Christ “standing” (ruling) in the “Holy Place” [Mat 24]

(2) The “Man of Sin” when he is revealed “sitting” (ruling) in the “Temple of God” [2Th2]

The first two examples show the Anti-Christ RULING during the (4th) Great Tribulation Kingdom.

The next three examples also show the Anti-Christ RULING during the same period – the Revelations Beast.

We now have five (5) examples of the Anti-Christ RULING over the “wheat and tares” during Daniel’s Fourth Beast.

(3) The “Ten Kings” that “agree to give their Kingdom unto the Beast” [Rev 17]

(4) The “Ten Horns” that “give their power and strength unto the Beast” [Rev 17]

(5) The tormenting “Locusts” who are “ruled” by a King named Apollyon [Rev 9]

However, the EVENT known as Daniel’s Abomination of Desolation is shown in many other passages of Scripture.

Below is a partial list of some passages showing Daniel’s Abomination RULING over Daniel’s Fourth Kingdom.

You cannot pretend to have an “informed opinion” on Daniel’s AOD unless all of these verses are harmonized.

(6) The “Horns” that were “plucked up” by the Anti-Christ [Dan 7]

(7) The “Host and Stars” that are “cast down” by the Anti-Christ. [Dan 8]

(8) The “Kingdom” which the Anti-Christ “obtains with flatteries” [Dan 11]

(9) The “Kingdom” that is “overflown” and “broken” by the Anti-Christ [Dan 11]

(10) The “Mighty and Holy People” who are “destroyed” by the Anti-Christ [Dan 8]

(11) The “Sanctuary and Host” that are “trodden under foot” by the Anti-Christ [Dan 8]

(12) The “Woman” which is hidden from the face of the “serpent” for 3.5 “times” [Rev 12]

(13) The “Holy People” whose “power is scattered” by the Anti-Christ for 3.5 “times” [Dan 12]

(14) The “Kings” that are “given into his hand” (into the Anti-Christ’s hand) for 3.5 “times” [Dan 7]

(15) The “Witnesses” which are first “overcome” and then are “killed” by Satan for 3.5 “days” [Rev 11]

(16) The “Holy City” which the Anti-Christ “treads under foot” for Forty-two months / 3.5 years [Rev 11]

(17) The “Arms” that “shall stand on his part” (stand with the Anti-Christ) and “pollute the Sanctuary” [Dan 11]

(18) The “Ten Virgins” who “went forth” preaching the Gospel of the Anti-Christ during the Fourth Kingdom [Mat 25]

(19) The “Sanctuary” being “polluted” by the Anti-Christ during Daniel’s Fourth “Kingdom of Heaven” [Dan 11]

While the people alive during Daniel’s Fourth Kingdom are shown [Mat 25] as the “ten Virgins” that “went forth

(into the Great Tribulation “Kingdom of Heaven”)… and they are shown [Dan 7] as the “ten Kings” and “ten Horns

(that were “given into the hand” of the Anti-Christ)… and they are shown [Rev 17] as the “ten Kings” and the “ten Horns

(that “agreed to give their Kingdom to the Beast”), the Bible contains (literally) DOZENS of other passages talking about

these same people and every one of the passages must be harmonized before we can pretend to have more than partial-truth.

You cannot even pretend to have found BIBLICAL TRUTH about a subject unless you can harmonize ALL SCRIPTURES

that are related to that subject. In the case of the people living on earth during the reign of the Anti-Christ (the Fourth Beast),

you must be able to harmonize ALL passages related to those people – regardless of the names they are called in that passage.

The doctrine of “harmony of Scripture” does not mean harmony of select passages… it means harmony of all related passages.

Hello,

So, correct me if I'm wrong, are you trying to support pretrib/premillennial doctrine? That's what it sounds like to me anyway.

1. Key Text and The Context

a. "This generation shall not pass" v34 the "time-text" of the chapter

b. "but of that day and hour" v36 the "transition-text" of the chapter

c. The context: Culmination of prophecies and warnings

d. The disciples questions: 24:1-3

2. Signs of the Destruction of Jerusalem: 24:4-35

a. General Signs: 24:4-14

b. Specific Signs: 24:15-28

c. Apocalyptic Language: 24:29-33/ Similar language also used concerning:

i. The destruction of Babylon (Isaiah 13:10)

ii. The destruction of Edom (Isaiah 34:4-5)

iii. The destruction of Egypt (Ezekiel 32:7-8)

3. The End of the World: 24:36 through 25:46

a. Contrast between this (Mat.24:36-25:46) and the former section of Matthew 24 (Mat.24:4-35)

b. Jesus teaches the suddenness of the second coming (like a thief/ no signs, warnings, announcements).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are clearly told WHAT the desolation of abomination is and given hints as to a time frame.

What is the desolation of abomination?

Verse Matt.24:15 = 15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

We know Daniel spoke of it too as it clearly says so in that book and referred here too.

Look at Luke 21:20 = 20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

So the abomination of desolation is Jerusalem and the temple therein being destroyed.

Time frame of Jerusalem being in such destruction is recorded to be 70 AD. The Roman empire was responsible for this. So the "armies" are the Roman empires armies. See Josephus "The Great Roman-Jewish War" for a secular take on this.

side step for a minute....

These events happened before 95-96 AD. which the book of Revelation was written, however, John, in v.9 states that he is a "brother and companion in tribulation and in the kingdom. Clearly the Roman empire was still heavily persecuting Christians during this time as well. John in Revelation was giving the first century Christians hope, that one day (soon see Rev 1:1,3 and Rev.22:6,10) the horrible persecutions (as also described by Josephus and other historians and writers) would end.

Back to Matthew 24....

From verses 4 to 35, it is a set time frame. How do I know? Verse 34, "Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled."

So this gives even more evidence that this already happened during those peoples time. Unless you wish to tell me there are 2,000 year old people walking about?

Next, to imply this didn't happen yet, is to also imply the kingdom is not here yet. Think about Matthew 24:14 and then explain the verses here below:

What did Jesus promise to Peter in Matthew 16:18-19?

What does Peter do in Acts 2 and Acts 10?

What does Paul say in Colossians 1:6 and 23?

What is your take on Colossians 1:13?

Same as Colossians 1:13, what is your take on Revelation 1:9?

So, does Paul claim the gospel is preaches "unto every creature under heaven"?

So, with Paul's claim, did Matthew 24:14's prophecy come true?

I'll stop right here for now as I must go, however I am willing to discuss more later should you wish too.

so what is in the holy place now?

The "Holy Place" is always the "Body of Christ".
Right now the "Holy Place" is the "wise virgins" [Mat 25]
or the "wheat" of the ten "horns/kings" [Dan 7]
or the "wheat" of the ten "horns/kings" [Rev 17]
or the "toes/kings" of IRON [Dan 2]

In each case they are the SAME PEOPLE....
the saved "wheat" living AFTER the Great Commission...
the Last Saints on earth before the Lord Returns to establish
the (5th) Eternal "Kingdom of Heaven".

Hello,

So, correct me if I'm wrong, are you trying to support pretrib/premillennial doctrine? That's what it sounds like to me anyway.

I am articulating the TRADITIONAL A-Millennial doctrine
which was taught by the Apostles, the early Catholic church
and the Reformers. I assume that you are familiar with the
reason and history of the OLDEST understanding of the
Millennial Kingdom.

I would be glad to discuss any/all objections you may have to what I have written
but try to keep it manageable. No STRAWMAN arguments and use MY WORDS instead
of some private interpretation... and let's discuss one or two issues at a time. It does
NOTHING to list 20 different issues at one time - especially when most are off topic.

I have provided a clear explanation of the "Abomination of Desolation".
I am ready/willing/able to support each point with ALL RELATED SCRIPTURE.
If you want a productive discussion... please respond as requested above.

Hello Jim,

Thank you for your response back. To me, the post did seem like an "informational" article. I couldn't really get a take on what you exactly believed or were trying to get across.

However, looking at this again, maybe I can start out with questions that lead up to the main idea if you will?

As you politely asked for, I will just put down minimal questions, so that it doesn't become a tangled mess.

#1 -- In as short of an answer you can (I understand some things need a bit of space to explain), what do you mean by 5th kingdom (verses with your commentary)?

I saw it in a separate post you did for someone else.

#2 -- Also, in clear, short as possible, and a precise explanation, what is the abomination of desolation to you (verses of course with your commentary)?

It wasn't really clear to me in your first explanation. Like I mentioned before it just seemed like an article of information that neither leaned one way or the other.

#3 -- Because you mentioned Matt 24 and 25 as some of your information/evidence, what is Matt 24 talking about?

As short as you possibly can although I understand if this would require some space to write too.

I'll stop here for now. Again, thank you for your time Jim.

(1) The fifth Kingdom represents the LAST KINGDOM... the Eternal Kingdom.
There are four temporal "Kingdoms of Heaven" on earth before the Lord Returns
to establish the fifth eternal "Kingdom of Heaven".

The Bible NAMES the (5th) Eternal "Kingdom of Heaven" in Matt 5 and 7 and 8 and 19
The Bible NAMES the (4th) Great Tribulation "Kingdom of Heaven" in Matt 25:1
The Bible NAMES the (3rd) Christian "Kingdom of Heaven" in Matt 13
The Bible NAMES the (2nd) Jewish "Kingdom of Heaven" in Matt 22:2
While the Bible does not NAME the (1st) Pre-Flood "Kingdom of Heaven"
(Saints from Adam to Noah) it obviously preceded the Jewish Kingdom.

(2) The Abomination of Desolation was Satan RULING over the "wheat and tares"
living in the Fourth Beast/Revelation Beast/Great Tribulation... I have recently posted
a thread entitled "Abomination of Desolation" which lists about TWO DOZEN passages
showing Satan RULING (through the person of his Anti-Christ) during the Fourth Kingdom.

(3) Matthew 24 and 25 are (for the most part) talking about the (4th) Great Tribulation
"Kingdom of Heaven". There are small portions talking about the Christian Kingdom.
Matthew 25:1-11 is talking about the "harvest" of the Last Saints into the last Kingdom.

Essentially... at the end of the (1st) Pre-Flood Kingdom all living Saints were "harvested"
on the Ark into the (2nd) Jewish Kingdom. At the end of the Jewish Kingdom all living
Saints were "harvested" into the (3rd) Christian Kingdom - when they followed Jesus
and His Disciples. At the end of the Great Commission... when all the "sheep are saved"
when all the Saints are "sealed" [Rev 7].... all living Saints are "harvested" into the last
Kingdom as they followed the Anti-Christ.

----------

In the Bible, the last Kingdom is shown as (a) Daniel's Fourth Beast and (b) the Revelation
Beast and (c) the Great Tribulation and (d) the Reign of the Anti-Christ during (e) Satan's
"Little Season". (Demonstrating the TRADITIONAL A-Millennial view being the Church Age).

This is important:
That means the PEOPLE living in the last Kingdom are shown as (a) the ten "horns/kings"
in Daniel 7 and (b) the ten "horns/kings" in Rev 17 and (c) the ten "toes/kings" in Daniel 2
and the ten "virgins" in Matthew 25. We know this ABSOLUTELY because, in each case,
they are the PEOPLE living on earth when the Lord Returns at the Seventh Trumpet.

In fact, the Seven "heads" of Daniel's Beasts represent the Seven "Heads" of the
Revelation Beast. And John reveals [Rev 17] when he wrote Revelations FIVE of the
"heads/kings" were already "fallen".... representing the "head/king" of the Pre-Flood
Kingdom and the "head/king" of the Jewish Kingdom and three (of the four) "heads/kings")
of the Christian Kingdom. The Seventh "head/king" is the Anti-Christ of the Fourth Kingdom
(Revelation Beast).... which is also called the Eighty "head/king" because he is "of the Seventh".

The Revelation Kingdom is shown from many perspectives:
In this case we are talking about it being shown as two separate periods:
TWO JUDGMENTS (5th and 6th trumpets) and as TWO WOES and as
TWO "heads/kings" and as TWO BEASTS.

BTW... Matthew 25:1-11 also shows these "dual Kingdoms" with
verses 1-4 being the first "trumpet/woe/king/beast" and verses 5-10
showing the second "trumpet/woe/king/beast".

BTW2.... the Great Tribulation consists of 3.5 "times" or 3.5 "days"
or 3.5 years (42 months) or 3.5 "watches of the night". I can show you
how Matthew 24-25 also show these 3.5 periods.

We are clearly told WHAT the desolation of abomination is and given hints as to a time frame.
What is the desolation of abomination?

I apologize for the poor format... but this answers most your questions:

----------

Olivet Timing Revealed by Luke’s Gospel:

Compare Luke's Gospel to that of Matthew if you want to understand the timing.

Jesus Foretells Destruction of the Temple (These subtitles are found in the NKJV.)

Luk 21:5 Then, as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and donations, He said,

Luk 21:6 "These things which you see—the days will come in which not one stone shall be left upon another that shall not be thrown down."

(Mat 24:2 And Jesus said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down." )

Luk 21:7 So they asked Him, saying, "Teacher, but when will these things be? And what sign will there be when these things are about to take place?"

(Mat 24:3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?")

( Mar 13:3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked Him privately,

Mar 13:4 "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign when all these things will be fulfilled?")

Luk 21:8 And He said: "Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am He,' and, 'The time has drawn near.' Therefore do not go after them.

(Mat 24:5 For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. )

Luk 21:9 But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately."

(Mat 24:6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.)

Jesus Foretells Wars and Persecution

Luk 21:10 Then He said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.

(Mat 24:7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. )

Luk 21:11 And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.

(Mat 24:7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. )

Luk 21:12 But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers for My name's sake.

(Mat 24:9 "Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name's sake.) (Read Acts 22:19-20, where Paul reveals that he fulfilled this text.)

Luk 21:13 But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony.

Luk 21:14  Therefore settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer;

Luk 21:15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist.

Luk 21:16 You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death.

Luk 21:17 And you will be hated by all for My name's sake.

(Mat 24:10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. )

Luk 21:18 But not a hair of your head shall be lost.

Luk 21:19 By your patience possess your souls.

(Mat 24:13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved.)

Jesus Foretells Destruction of Jerusalem

Luk 21:20 "But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near.

(Mat 24:15 "Therefore when you see the 'ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand), (Read John 10:22 to understand the past event that Jesus was referring to that was well understood by the Jews of His time. Antiochus Epiphanes 167 BC)

Luk 21:21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her.

(Mat 24:16 "then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.)

Luk 21:22 For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

Luk 21:23 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people.

(Mat 24:19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! )

(Luk 23:26 Now as they led Him away, they laid hold of a certain man, Simon a Cyrenian, who was coming from the country, and on him they laid the cross that he might bear it after Jesus.
Luk 23:27 And a great multitude of the people followed Him, and women who also mourned and lamented Him.
Luk 23:28 But Jesus, turning to them, said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.
Luk 23:29 For indeed the days are coming in which they will say, 'Blessed are the barren, wombs that never bore, and breasts which never nursed!')

Luk 21:24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
(Most Bible scholars agree that the first part of this verse is about the destruction of the city and the temple during 70 AD. This provides a timing mark in the passage. Notice that the next few verses refer to the Second Coming, after the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.)

The Coming of the Son of Man

Luk 21:25  "And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring;

(Mat 24:29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.)

Luk 21:26 men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

Luk 21:27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

(Mat 24:30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.)

Luk 21:28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."

(Mat 24:33 So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors!)

The Lesson of the Fig Tree

Luk 21:29 Then He spoke to them a parable: "Look at the fig tree, and all the trees.

(Mat 24:32 "Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. )

Luk 21:30 When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near.

Luk 21:31 So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near.

Luk 21:32 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place.

(Mat 24:34 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.)

Luk 21:33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

Watch Yourselves

Luk 21:34 "But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly.

Luk 21:35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth.

Luk 21:36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."

Luk 21:37 And in the daytime He was teaching in the temple, but at night He went out and stayed on the mountain called Olivet.

Luk 21:38 Then early in the morning all the people came to Him in the temple to hear Him.

Daniel's "Abomination of Desolation" is Satan RULING over the Last Saints (through the actions of his Anti-Christ)
You are close, but not exactly. Satan does empower the person, the beast. But that is not the Abomination of Desolation.

The Abomination of Desolation will be a statue image (of the beast, the person) which will be placed in the temple (to be built) in the holy place. At first it will be inanimate. But when Satan is cast down to earth, having just a time, times, half times left, he will incarnate the image, making it appear to come alive and speak - demanding everyone worship it (him).

When it says desolation, it just means that worship of the True God of the bible will not be taking place in the temple. There is also the Transgression of desolation (in Daniel 8:12,13) which will precede the Abomination of desolation. The Transgression of desolation will be when the Antichrist goes into the temple, sits, claiming to have achieved God-hood.... "transgressing" the Mt. Sinai covenant to worship the One True God"

there will not be a third temple -
the dome of the rock is in the holy place
I would not say "in" the holy place. More like on the holy place... assuming it's location is exactly where the temple Sanctuary was.

How is the daily sacrifice going to be stopped, if there is not another temple built?

do you agree it is preventing the third temple?
imo, yes. Although some say that a temple could be built adjacent to the Dome.

But it is not just a matter of a temple being built, it has to be that the person who confirms the covenant (Mt. Sinai covenant) has to give the same sort of speech that Moses gave in Deuteronomy 31:9-13 - that God gave the land of Israel, to the children of Israel as theirs forever. The muslims won't allow that. So it has to take place after Gog/Magog - which will end Islam, and there will be no reason for the Dome to be left standing.

Everything takes place right after Gog/Magog.

imo, yes. Although some say that a temple could be built adjacent to the Dome.

The Dome is built on the remains of Roman Fort Antonia, which was built after 17 AD.
It was built to house the thousands of Roman soldiers needed to police the city of Jerusalem.

Other Roman Forts around the world are the same size and shape, as revealed by Bob Cornuke in the video below.

In 73 AD the Jewish leader at Masada said the only thing left in Jerusalem was that built by the Romans.

The Jewish temple was at Gihon Spring.

Josephus said the Jewish temple was connected to Fort Antonia by a bridge.

does that make it an abomination?
It may be considered by some an abomination. And since it is dedicated to the false god of Islam, allah, that would make it an abomination on that basis alone. But it is not the abomination of desolation standing in the holy place - because the Dome has been there since 691 AD. The AOD will be setup to be worshiped 1335 days before the day that Jesus' returns to this earth.

And the AOD placed in the holy place is supposed to be time of the end characterized by when travel and knowledge are increased. Fits our current generation.

Jim
.

I like your emphasis on Matt 25's kingdom of heaven as part of Matt 24's Olivet discourse, but the 'kingdom of heaven' that is spoken of there starts at the 7th Trumpet.

Rev 11
15 Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.” 16 And the twenty-four elders who sit on their thrones before God fell on their faces and worshiped God, 17 saying,

“We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty,
who is and who was,
for you have taken your great power
and begun to reign.
18 The nations raged,
but your wrath came,
and the time for the dead to be judged,
and for rewarding your servants, the prophets and saints,
and those who fear your name,
both small and great,
and for destroying the destroyers of the earth.”

19 Then God's temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant was seen within his temple. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake, and heavy hail.
Rev 12 then backtracks to an indeterminate time (because Rev 12's star sign is this Sept. and doesn't fit otherwise) then eventually catches back up at Rev 15

Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and amazing, seven angels with seven plagues, which are the last, for with them the wrath of God is finished.

2 And I saw what appeared to be a sea of glass mingled with fire—and also those who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name, standing beside the sea of glass with harps of God in their hands. 3 And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying,

“Great and amazing are your deeds,
O Lord God the Almighty!
Just and true are your ways,
O King of the nations!
4 Who will not fear, O Lord,
and glorify your name?
For you alone are holy.
All nations will come
and worship you,
for your righteous acts have been revealed.”

5 After this I looked, and the sanctuary of the tent of witness in heaven was opened, 6 and out of the sanctuary came the seven angels with the seven plagues, clothed in pure, bright linen, with golden sashes around their chests. 7 And one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God who lives forever and ever, 8 and the sanctuary was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from his power, and no one could enter the sanctuary until the seven plagues of the seven angels were finished.
So, at the end of the 2nd woe/ start of the 7th trumpet & 3rd woe, the mark of the beast is offered (to Christians via the False Prophet)

This is the same time as Daniel 7
11 “I looked then because of the sound of the great words that the horn was speaking. And as I looked, the beast was killed, and its body destroyed and given over to be burned with fire. 12 As for the rest of the beasts, their dominion was taken away, but their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.
Their dominion is taken away because the kingdom of heaven has arrived. (at the end of the 2nd woe/ start 7th Trumpet/ start 3rd woe)

Going back to Matt 25, the kingdom of heaven starting at the end of the 2nd woe,
Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. 3 For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. 5 As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept. 6 But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’

7 Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’ 10 And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut. 11 Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open to us.’ 12 But he answered, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ 13 Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

The 'buying and selling oil' relates to the mark being offered (for nominal Christians, the mark already being available for non- Christians at the start of the Day of the lord? the False Prophet seems to relate to the 'son of Tabeel' in Isaiah 7

5Because Syria, with Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, has devised evil against you, saying, 6“Let us go up against Judah and terrify it, and let us conquer it for ourselves, and set up the son of Tabeel as king in the midst of it,” 7thus says the Lord God:

“‘It shall not stand,
and it shall not come to pass.
8For the head of Syria is Damascus,
and the head of Damascus is Rezin.
And within sixty-five years
Ephraim will be shattered from being a people.
[Ephraim has been joined to idols (apostate Christians, led by the 'son of Remaliah'/ Remaliah means 'God adorns' relates to 'adorned Lucifer' in Isaiah 14, Ezekiel 28's 'adorned' king of Tyre). The 'season and a time' referred to in Daniel 7:12 is part of this '65 years' mentioned.]

9And the head of Ephraim is Samaria,
and the head of Samaria is the son of Remaliah.

If you are not firm in faith,
you will not be firm at all.’”

10Again the Lord spoke to Ahaz: 11“Ask a sign of the Lord your God; let it be deep as Sheol or high as heaven.” 12But Ahaz said, “I will not ask, and I will not put the Lord to the test.” 13And heg said, “Hear then, O house of David! Is it too little for you to weary men, that you weary my God also? 14Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. http://biblehub.com/isaiah/7-15.htm
[Seems to relate to the Sept. 23, 2017 Rev 12 star sign. 'Immanuel' meaning 'God is with us' - again.]
15He shall eat curds and honey when he knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good. 16For before the boy knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land whose two kings you dread will be deserted. 17The Lord will bring upon you and upon your people and upon your father’s house such days as have not come since the day that Ephraim departed from Judah—the king of Assyria!”

18In that day the Lord will whistle for the fly that is at the end of the streams of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria. 19And they will all come and settle in the steep ravines, and in the clefts of the rocks, and on all the thornbushes, and on all the pastures.

20In that day the Lord will shave with a razor that is hired beyond the River—with the king of Assyria—the head and the hair of the feet, and it will sweep away the beard also.

21In that day a man will keep alive a young cow and two sheep, 22and because of the abundance of milk that they give, he will eat curds, for everyone who is left in the land will eat curds and honey.

This passage is about the head of Damascus, Syria (Rezin, who in Islamic eschatology is the 'Sufyani') in alliance with apostate Christianity (Ephraim, the 'son of Remaliah', joined to idols, in charge of the apostate Israel 10 tribes - what people call the 'antichrist') who conspire to tempt the 2 remaining faithful tribes into joining them by placing a puppet governor over them (the 2 horned False Prophet) who apparently is there to sway the 2 faithful tribes, the other 10 have already joined the evil coalition. The enemy of this coalition is the Assyrian (possibly the 'Mahdi'?).

We know that this passage is for the end times because it is referring to the destruction of this same Damascus. Since Damascus hasn't been destroyed yet, the context must be for the latter days.
