"This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success." - Joshua 1:8

Clarence Jordan was a man of unusual abilities and commitment. He had two Ph.D.s, one in agriculture and one in Greek and Hebrew. So gifted was he, he could have chosen to do anything he wanted. He chose to serve the poor.

In the 1940s, he founded a farm in Americus, Georgia, and called it Koinonia Farm. It was a community for poor whites and poor blacks. As you might guess, such an idea did not go over well in the Deep South of the ’40s. Ironically, much of the resistance came from... #D4Ldevotion #D4L #Christian

This is a powerful message of not only steadfastness, but the fearing of God, rather than man. The stickler here, is that some in the klan, and participating in the horrors of what Clarence Jordan and his Koinonia community experienced, were done by the hands of "church people".

How utterly antithetical to anything of the living God.

Clarence and his community surely DID stand faithful in the face of adversity.

Thank you for sharing this powerful story of courage and faithfulness in the face of horrific adversity.

God bless you on this very rainy Monday afternoon in November, brother.
