Daily Devotion: The Command To Pray

"Pray without ceasing." - I Thessalonians 5:17

Good morning my dear friends in Christ!

I’m not sure how you interpret these words, “Pray without ceasing.” I personally believe it means that we are to be in a constant attitude of prayer. The word prayer is a common word for communicating with the Lord. The word means praise of God. We are to be in a constant attitude of praising God simply because God commands us to.

That's one of the best descriptions/break downs of praying without ceasing that i've seen.

Pray without ceasing = "constant attitude of prayer".

And praise to God is a huge part of it, which leads right in to "delighting" in God, and being thankful.

...as i think on it, "praying without ceasing" is the equivalent of a "thankful, praising, celebrating heart".

It's like the Psalms literally "coming to life" in a heart and being expressed by that heart.
