.
And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. - Genesis 6:4 #KJV
The word imagination is from a Hebrew root word relating to pottery. It means “to fashion” or “to shape.” In Noah’s day people let their imagination run wild and as a result, men fashioned wicked philosophies; they formed obscene artifacts; they espoused filthy causes. They poured society into their mold.

It's great to pay attention as you have to that word "imagination" in this key verse explaining some key reasons for the Flood.
I look at key verses like this one -- verse

New International Version

New Living Translation
The LORD observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil.
English Standard Version
The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
New American Standard Bible
Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
King James Bible
And GOD saw that the wickedness of man
was great in the earth, and
that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart

The overall wording is so shocking and dramatic -- they didn't even have
any thoughts of compassion or love!
When we think on that, it's....suddenly understandable why God regretted He had even made humans, and considered entirely making us extinct.
Not even any love at all. None. It's shocking. Suddenly we can understand.
But pointing out the role of imagination in this is very valuable! Thank you!
Fortunately for us, there was a man and his family
not like how humanity had become in verse 5 (and verse 11), and so here we are, still, and now, with a Redeemer!
