  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Curse of the Pirate's....Game??

There is one thing I've noticed about the video game industry.

A curse.

A curse on all pirate games.

I am a collector and a specialist in pirate games.

I have played...probably 90-95% of the pirate games out there for PC.

ALL of them have fallen short in some respect. There have been some valiant attempts but for the most part, they ALL fall short.

Why is this, why does there seem to be this impossibility to produce a decent pirate game?

I liked Sid Myers Pirates! game, though things like boat speed could be annoying at times.
Pirates! had GREAT potential but it sunk so horrifically in the end. The dialog was non-existant, the game itself was cartoony and felt kinda like a kid's game, the game had no real depth

Pirates of the Burning Sea had a lot of promise, but I found the gameplay a little on the shallow side for an MMO.
I actually was supposed to be a Beta tester for POTBS but I got so frustrated with the SOE registration system I finally bagged it. I'd like to try the game but the reports I've heard from it were not promising

Yah, I ended up beta testing PotBS... I was not impressed enough with it to really buy it. The killing point for me is when you're in a battle with another ship and they flatten you, but not enough to sink you, then start sailing away. You have to wait for about 15 minutes for them to exit the battle area... longer if they are damaged as well.
