  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Lately I read the bible just for some inspiration and because how good it makes me feel. I don't try to read any deeper than the surface (don't try to make humanly sense out of it). Is this okay? Will my spirit continue to be satisfied if I read the word to spend time with God but I do not literally study it and try to make more sense from it?

God can give the sense

Neh 8:8 So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.

For example, all scripture is given for reproof

Prov 1:23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

Shown in Jesus here...

Luke 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

Which blessed me, because it shows God causing the sense, the one making known His words to the reader and opening their understanding that they might understand what they are reading.

I dont think you can get too far without Gods Spirit, or be satisfied in just yourself (by yourself) make any sense?

Matthew 5:6
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

John 6:35
And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

Just as the earthly bread is needful to preserve the body, so also is that heavenly bread needful to preserve one's soul.

But it is God who gives understanding in His Word by way His Spirit.

If any man lacks understanding ask of God who gives to all men freely, but let that man ask in faith.

What father would give to his son a stone if he asked for bread? Even so your heavenly Father is happy to give of His Spiriit to those who ask Him.
