Moore County authorities investigate vandalism that left thousands without power

A woman who vehemently and repeatedly protested a drag show scheduled in Southern Pines claims that deputies questioned her in regard to the mass power outages in the county, after she posted on social media that she knows why the outage happened.

Emily Grace Rainey, a former U.S. Army psychological operations officer [who resigned her commission in 2021 due to involvement in various protests, including Jan 6th] made several posts about it on social media, even saying in one post: “The power is out in Moore County and I know why."

After the power went out, Rainey posted a picture of the [darkened] marquee where the drag show was scheduled to take place, claiming that God was "chastising Moore County."

Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields told WRAL News that the outage was being investigated as a "criminal occurrence," but he did not say specifically what was done to damage the substations or whether the sheriff's office has connected that vandalism to the drag show or any suspects.

Fields said evidence of vandalism was found at multiple substation sites on Saturday night, and that the vandalism appeared to be intentional.

Much of Moore County — more than 40,000 homes and businesses — remain without power following an attack to electrical substations.

Authorities have confirmed that at least two substations were damaged by gunfire on Saturday night.

The town of Southern Pines posted to Facebook that ”we recommend preparing for an extended outage, lasting possibly for another 24-48 hours.”

FirstHealth’s three convenient care clinics and its fitness centers in Moore County are without power and not open.
Sloan said they have received some inquiries from individuals who use medical devices that may need to be charged, or patients on oxygen. She said the emergency room is providing assistance, as needed, and that FirstHealth is working on identifying alternative locations where assistance can be provided.

Reminds me of a similar incident some years ago. Hopefully the loose lipped one actually is connected to the incident as they’re willing to rat themselves and their accomplices out unprompted imagine what they will divulge when facing a decade of jail time.

[At this point, we only have the claim of Rainey that the drag show had anything to do with this event.]
But we also have the question about ARMY Psyops if Emily Rainey (a Jan 6 believer) is an example

Let's see the positive side of things: if there is no electric lighting, there's no way for people to see a drag show.

No School on Monday!

In response to outages, which began just after 7 p.m. Saturday across Moore County, officials announced a state of emergency that includes a curfew from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday. County schools will be closed Monday.

Roughly 37,000 customers in the county remained without power Sunday evening, according to poweroutage.us.

With cold temperatures forecast for Sunday night, the county opened a shelter at a sports complex in Carthage.

Not quite cold enough for a snow day, but the kids get at least one domestic terrorism day.

FBI joins investigation into North Carolina power outage caused by ‘intentional’ attacks on substations

With no suspects or motive announced, the FBI is joining the investigation into power outages in a North Carolina county believed to have been caused by “intentional” and “targeted” attacks on substations that left around 40,000 customers in the dark Saturday night, prompting a curfew and emergency declaration.

In addition to the FBI, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation has joined the investigation, officials said.

The estimated cost of the substation damage is in the millions, the sheriff said Sunday.

The damage has been significant and rerouting power isn’t an option, said Jeff Brooks, principal communications manager for Duke Energy.

“We have a six-month-old baby in the house. We’re out of heat. We are trying to get heat for her,” Carthage resident Chris Thompson told WRAL.

Chilly temperatures, with lows in the 30s, were expected in the area overnight Sunday with highs in the 50s and a chance of rain expected Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

With streets in the dark, the area has seen increased emergency calls and vehicle accidents are being reported because traffic lights are out, Cameron told CNN.

Every child should get a domestic terrorism day.

It's educational.

This isn’t vandalism. It’s terrorism that includes vandalism.

CNN has live updates.

No school Tuesday.

Entire city of Southern Pines is still without power, mayor says

When asked what she would say to the person responsible for shooting the substations, [mayor] Haney did not mince her words.

“There’s very little to say that you can print,” she said.

“It is a selfish act. It is cruel. There are so many people that are hurting. The revenue stream has been stopped. If you have health issues, it is critical. It is just a horrible, horrible, terrorist, in my opinion, act. Cowardly to do that,” Haney continued.
Haney said that she had to get her 98-year-old mother out of the city and to Charlotte so she could be in a warm home.
