Only in Florida: Crazed Woman Stalks Governor - Ann Coulter

'Rebekah Jones, website designer (not “scientist,” as the media insistently claim), falsely accused DeSantis of doing what Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York actually was doing with the COVID numbers. From the extensive media coverage, I figured maybe the DeSantis administration was taking advantage of gray areas to make the state’s record look as good as possible. Not as bad as what Cuomo was doing, but something.

'Nope! This whole story was the fantasy of a crazed stalker, as explained in detail by Christina Pushaw in Human Events and Charles Cooke in National Review.'

...

'Jones’ ongoing hysterics resulted in criminal charges against her for vandalizing Sweeterman’s car, robbery and stalking. She was fired by the university, jailed at least three times and committed to a mental institution.

'This is the “scientist” who was lionized by, among others, CNN, MSNBC, NPR, The Guardian and Cosmopolitan.

'The smearing of DeSantis would be outrageous even if Jones were a rational human with an impeccable past, but she is not. DeSantis steered Florida through the pandemic with 30% fewer COVID deaths than New York, despite having a larger population and a lot more old people.

'But journalists couldn’t be bothered to bring up Cuomo’s killing old people and cooking the books because they were too busy talking about his lats. Instead, our watchdog media attacked the governor with the best record on COVID, who was being stalked by a crazy woman.'

NY is the biggest international portal with three gigantic international airports a few miles from one another.

They were hit first, before we knew anything about the virus, before we had safety equipment, and with a president who was saying it was a hoax or would disappear in days.

They took very strong action with little help. I think they did as well as could be expected.

Throughout the pandemic, all DeSantis cared about was tourism.and making money. But because they weren't hit hard until later, they did a little better. Now they have more cases and more cases per thousand than NY.

De Santis cares nothing about the people. He deserves to lose badly.

Of course, bash responsible journalism and put out "fake news" to deceive the public about the facts. Florida has recorded a known total of 2,320,818 coronavirus cases and 37,512 deaths since the pandemic began last year. Rank: 3rd in the nation! Congratulations, Governor DeSantis!

Um, here is the data from woroldometers as of May 28 for all 50 states and Washington D.C.

Florida currently ranks 18th in the nation in infection rate;

...and 26th in deaths/million.

Not sure where you came up with 3rd.

Actually, New York DOH forced sick nursing home patients back to their nursing homes. They prevented nursing homes from testing people and required them to accept positive patients, which is probably the worst thing they could have possibly done and is also why they have (to this day) the second highest death rate in the country;

When the hospitals were deluged with patients, they had to discharge those who were recovering. If their homes were nursing homes that was where they went. I don't know where else they could have gone.

Once again, little was known about the disease, its incubation period, transmission, etc. And once again, the federal response was beyond dismal.

Later, nursing homes nationally had problems because 40% of CNA's were refusing vaccines. In medical facilities it should be required. If a CNA is incapable of recognizing that, she is not bright enough to do her job.

You are looking at numbers per 1000.

And there was a time where DeSantis wouldn't allow it to be listed as a cause of death. If someone was hospitalized with COVID and got heart failure the doctors had to put heart failure.

Finally, closing off travel from China was futile. BTW they took extreme measures to control spread.

The East Coast cases came from Europe, particularly Italy.

So let's send sick people back to the most vulnerable population? We knew that this disease was far more deadly for the elderly long before it reached us. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out that you don't send sick people back to mingle with the most vulnerable.

Where else could they have gone? Well, geez, we brought a naval ship to New York City in a gross overreaction that never even came close to full utilization. There certainly were better options. Why are you so quick to dismiss the thing that caused the highest death rates rather than be critical of that decision which we knew was foolish even back then?

Once again, little was known about the disease, its incubation period, transmission, etc. And once again, the federal response was beyond dismal.
What happened in New York and other states where the made the poorly thought out decision to force sick patients into the nursing homes with the most vulnerable people had NOTHING to do with the federal response. And those states that forced the sick back into the most vulnerable populations have higher death rates.

Later, nursing homes nationally had problems because 40% of CNA's were refusing vaccines. In medical facilities it should be required. If a CNA is incapable of recognizing that, she is not bright enough to do her job.
It's disturbing that you want to set a precedent where a vaccine under EUA should be able to be mandated. It's also amazing to me that you feel perfectly comfortable disparaging CNA's who do their jobs tirelessly day in and day out on the front lines while you sit home criticizing them.

Yes, because adjusting the data for population is the only way you can even come close to comparing states that have vastly different populations.

And there was a time where DeSantis wouldn't allow it to be listed as a cause of death. If someone was hospitalized with COVID and got heart failure the doctors had to put heart failure.
Good!

This may come as a shock to you, but there is a big difference between dying FROM COVID and dying WITH COVID, a distinction that was rarely made. The CDC has recently (finally) acknowledged that there is in fact a difference.

Did you know that a very large proportion of "COVID deaths" were people who were going to die anyway? Consider a patient who has a terminal illness and is in hospice care. Then, just a few days before they die, they get tested for COVID and test positive. What do you think should be listed for the cause of death? Their terminal illness, since they were on their deathbed and in hospice care already, or COVID? Because in many cases, COVID was listed as the cause of death in those situations. But that's ludicrous. COVID didn't kill them. Their terminal illness did.

A personal example; we knew a gentleman that that died, and the hospital claimed it was a "COVID death". This man had leukemia, lung cancer, bone cancer... generally he was in very poor and declining health for at least the last 3 years. Long before the pandemic, his prognosis was very poor. Yet when he went into the hospital and died, he tested positive for COVID, so they simply classified his cause of death as COVID. Really? You don't think the fact that he had compounded potentially terminal illnesses is why he died?

In Florida, he may not have been classified as a COVID death, and in my opinion, that's a very good thing, because as I said, there is a huge difference in dying FROM COVID vs. dying WITH COVID.

The "vaccines" have been rolled out under an emergency use authorization and thus have not been properly vetted (unlike hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin, which have been around for decades). They are an ongoing experiment with risks. Some don’t want to take such risks. They deserve compassion and respect.

The European cases came from China. The major reason why Europe was hit so bad was failure to close off travel from China.

That, and China certainly took no serious effort to avoid spreading their disease to the rest of the world...

Compassion, respect, and unemployment insurance.

People take risks in their jobs every day because they are necessary. Firefighters and soldiers risk their very lives. Other jobs, such as roofing or construction, are risky as well. Factory workers may be exposed to chemicals.

People who work in medical fields with medically vulnerable people are responsible for doing their best to heal them--without exposing them to illnesses that might kill them.

The miniscule insignificant risk that a CNA might be asked to take in order to perform her work--getting a vaccine--pales in comparison to the risks other workers take every day. They don't deserve our respect, because they are unwilling to fulfill their duties. They are slackers.

I explained it fully. Being asked to take a vaccine to protect the medically vulnerable people in your care is an infinitesimal, negligible, laughable risk compared to the occupational hazards of jobs like firefighting, military, factory work, cooking, construction, driving, landscaping....I could go on and on.

I worked ten years for a business that required me to take flu shots and, having a mind unclouded by conspiracy theories and self-serving demagogues, didn't hesitate.
