Yes, that too. But as Trump said: "It will go away without the vaccine."
Well, that's not completely correct... it will subside. It will not go away. Just like the Black Death didn't.

Oh it will go away. Just like the heat energy of the universe. Just a matter of time.

Guess having a science illiterate leader is a great comfort for some people.

For whatever reason....
Don't worry. Joe Biden's husband will fix that, as part of a Harris-Biden administration. They'll release the dog-faced pony soldiers.

IMHO science deniers find comfort in their anti-science conspiracy theories because it makes them feel smart. Having a leader with the same views (especially one who constantly claims to know more about everything than anyone alive) merely validates their ignorance.

When they disparage, denigrate, dismiss and insult science and scientists they convince themselves that they are more intelligent than the people who have actually studied science their entire lives. They can proudly present their "two cents" on par with the actually scientists without the inconvenient need for years and years worth of education, study, research and effort, and without the need for silly facts, data and empirical evidence.

They can, with just a few clicks on a keyboard and a short post to an internet "debate" forum "prove" that they are right and all the MILLIONS of stupid scientists, technicians and students are completely wrong.

No one said they are stupid. However, there is no peer reviewed consensus. The topic is still highly debated, but only one point of view is allowed to see the day of light.

A cull of the old and the weak so the fit can thrive seems to be an acceptable Christian response to our situation. Thats what I'm getting from the discussion here.
Since when is Darwin -- strike that, Herbert Spencer -- the new prophet of christianity?

The irony is that in this case he's exactly correct.

I'm a highly individualistic person..... but this is a time to think about the group perhaps just a little more than about yourself.

Believe me, like the rest of you, I'm looking forward to it being all about me me me again. But until then, suck it up, people.

In the same way that the Theory of Evolution is "still highly debated" no doubt.

No, not at all...

Same could be said about hydroxychloroquine among other topics surrounding the COVID 'event'. There are many professionals in the field that disagree, even counter the popular narratives. However, said research is censored, those professionals get silenced/fired, (disappeared) and the narratives remain preserved.

Does anyone remember when we here on CF talked about whether we'd have 60,000 deaths?

Here, April 19th:
One of the most watched mainstream projection for U.S. deaths, the IHME, has been pointed to something close to 60,000 U.S. deaths (by August) for quite a while now.

That wasn't so long ago -- April. But now, we see the reality of too many treating it as if it's not that serious, as we near 200,000 deaths.

Eventually the fear will be seen as ridiculous and the herd will stop acting as if this is the plague and society will return to a semblance of normal life.
That attitude began already in May and June into July, as many young adults gathered together without masks in many places.

You are still discounting known, sometimes intentional inaccuracies in the data. Misinformation concerning the efficacy of masks. And a highly contested election during a staged coup. This pandemic is not what is being presented to the public.

That reminds of something I saw on Twitter today.

Warning - it’s incredibly stupid.

What's the new IHME projection...?

300,000 - 600,000 U.S. deaths by January 1rst, with 400,000 or so considered the current projection.

The 300,000 number if a U.S. mask mandate happens and is widely followed, which would save about 100,000 lives by Jan 1rst.
The 600,000 is if we went in the opposite direction and even existing restrictions were eased.
