When this crisis is finally over there will be millions of dead and trillions of costs to deal with. For those, like myself, who have lost loved ones in this pandemic winners or losers is a disingenuous way to deal with real personal losses. But on a national level there are clear winners and losers from this global pandemic.

China for example saw the virus begin in Wuhan but locked down very effectively. It's economy has grown through this crisis but it has lost a lot of international credibility.

The USA has lost more than half a million people and trillions of dollars. But it has been vaccinating very fast by contrast with the EU for example. But its reintegration into the international community by Biden might neutralise the loss of economic power relative to China

Some industries have boomed during this crisis and others have nose dived. Gaming is up and tourism and aviation down for instance. Some countries do better from industries that have benefitted and others have not.

So what is the long term impact of this crisis on global geo-politics? Who is up and who is down. What are the major lessons internationally for nations?

Reintegration?

Yes Trump alienated allies and destabilised the international world order. Biden is business as usual with Americas weight firmly behind a world order that has kept the peace since WW2

Boris Johnson. covid is distracting from the disaster of Brexit, and the vaccine success is seeing his earlier failures forgotten about.

Remote working is a big thing now. So office space is less in demand.
Public cloud has become bigger such as AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure.

I think the music industry has tanked.
Most money is in concerts which are non existent and many bands are holding off on producing new albums.
Tourism is obviously gone.
Since money is being printed, then assets have gone up in value relatively speaking.
