At least the population aboard aircraft carrier should be relatively healthy, young and accustomed to taking orders.

....guess the USN didn't appreciate having to answer to the press :

The Navy removed the captain of an aircraft carrier crippled by the coronavirus from his job on Thursday, two days after the officer’s unusually blunt letter warned that if the service did not remove sailors from the vessel more quickly, it would fail them.

Navy Capt. Brett Crozier, the commanding officer of the USS Theodore Roosevelt, was relieved of command at the direction of acting Navy secretary Thomas B. Modly. The Navy removed him after becoming increasingly convinced that he was involved in leaking the letter to the media to force the service to address his concerns.

...meanwhile, the outbreak is having a serious impact.

Nearly 3,000 sailors aboard a U.S. aircraft carrier where the coronavirus has spread will be taken off the ship by Friday, Navy officials said Wednesday as they struggle to quarantine crew members in the face of an outbreak.

The Secretary of the Navy shows his true (political) colors:

The U.S. Navy’s top civilian excoriated the fired commander of the U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt to its crew on Monday as the sailors huddled on the island of Guam amid a coronavirus outbreak among their ranks, according to a transcript that was leaked online Monday. The New York Times has obtained an audio recording that supports the transcript’s authenticity.

Acting Navy Secretary Thomas B. Modly addressed the crew of the aircraft carrier on Monday afternoon via the ship’s internal loudspeaker system. In a profane and defensive address that one crew member described in an interview as “whiny, upset, irritated, condescending,” Modly took repeated shots at the integrity of Capt. Brett E. Crozier, who was removed from command last week, and eventually injected partisan political tones into the address by attacking former Vice President Joe Biden, who has repeatedly criticized Crozier’s removal.

Modly said Crozier was “too naïve or too stupid to be a commanding officer” if he thought that letter wasn’t going to leak. “The alternative is that he did this on purpose,” Modly added.

I'll take "Names of navy secretaries that are also too stupid or naive if they think their tirade isn't going to leak" for 10 thanks Alex. I'd also like to play my irony bonus card.

    ...

In an interview with The Washington Post’s David Ignatius, Modly said he fired Crozier so as not to get into a situation where Trump would think that he needed to intervene.

Modly said he was aware that his predecessor lost his job because the Navy “got crossways with the president,” and “I didn’t want that to happen again.”

....in other words, to protect the President's narrative (ego), the USN just lost one of it's Senior officers. Sad.

Ironically the man that the aircraft carrier was named for did almost exactly the same thing. The captain was just following a time honored tradition associated with Teddy:

Teddy Roosevelt Did Exactly What the Captain of the USS Roosevelt Did

Roosevelt ended up profiting from his action that saved so many lives, let's hope that in this case history repeats itself.

During this period of National Emergency, Americans must trust and appreciate their President. His leadership cannot be held to account or questioned when Americans need to believe every word uttered or Tweeted. Disloyalty becomes treason and must be stamped out. The Armed Forces are faithful to the President’s commands. The Republican Guards will not allow dissent or unappreciativeness. You should consider yourself notified. Your attitudes are measurable and will be weighed accordingly. Make Appreciation Great Again!
