On a good note, 225 less people died this week, there was a snafu in changes to death certificates that apparently gave too many. Still morbid numbers coming out but not AS bad...

In South Korea it spread through a megachurch.

Not a megachurch, a cult.

Later there had been rather local outbreaks because of churches who were to loose with actions against covid-19.

They had to quarantine church members.

They had to shut down a whole city (Daegu). I've been in Korea at that time, I know details better than you.

Figures how many people got infected and how many of the infected died are not that informative as it seems at first glance. With more testing, more cases will emerge of people who never need hospital treatment.

Fact is: When I take the figures for Germany (9,226 deaths) and project them to the USA (with a larger population), this means 36,457.2 deaths. This is a good estimate (round it as you need or want) of the number of death cases if your president had taken the issue seriously, instead making fun of "alarmist"s, spreading conspiracy theories, refusing to wear a mask etc.

The number of deaths by covid-19 approaches the number of infections in Germany ... and though here the numbers are rising, too (for their is a growing number of idiots who do not believe covid-19 is dangerous, thank you, Putin & Trump!), the odds are high that in a few weeks there are more deaths in the USA than infections in Germany.

PS: I don't know why almost everyone says "corona": There are plenty of corona viruses, most of them harmless (you can be certain that some the colds you got where caused by corona viruses). Only in 2002 the scientific community learned that there are lethal corona viruses (SARS). We now deal with the third known lethal corona virus, SARS-COV-2, and the disease is called covid-19.

1918 flu is the worst pandemic in modern history. With a world population of 1.6 billion it is estimated that between 20 million 1.25% to 50 million 3.125% of the population had died.
Covid-19 just barely has a .01% rate of contraction, yet alone death.

You are comparing apples and oranges. The 20 millon from flu after the pandemic sopped. The Covid-19 has just begun. The flu pandemic had also just about 100,000 deaths after the first few months.

But I hope you've learned by now.
