Coraline and Away We Go

I watched both of these movies this weekend.

Coraline was a bit dark - I don't think it should be for kids - but I really really appreciated it. The animation was beautiful and the storyline was fun.

Away We Go was sweet and hilarious. I recommend it.

Coraline was an excellent movie. We saw it when it came out in the theater. Unfortunately the theater where we saw it didn't have it in 3D at the time. Our son was 9 at the time and it certainly isn't too dark for kids of that age. Maybe for smaller children, though.

The 3d effects were not as good as I expected (especially based on raving reviews I had read....MvA was FAR superior in that aspect...of course it was based on an entirely different technology), but the movie, the animation, the story....all fantastic.
Dark? Yes
Too dark for young (say....pre-6-year-old) children? Perhaps.
Moody, lesson-learned, type of movie? Absolutely.

Even if you dont like the animation style, the story by itself is worth a go.

Coraline was a big hit with my kids. My 9 and 7 yos thought it was a bit dark. The button eyes were freaky,lol.
