Today is the 1st of Tout on the ancient Coptic/Egyptian calendar (Sept. 11 on a non-leap year, Sept. 12 on a leap year), which marks the beginning of the Coptic year. To explain a little bit of why we celebrate the New Year today, here is an English sermon by Fr. Mikhail Mikhail of St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church in Cleveland, OH. May the good father's words help us all.

A blessed Nayrouz to any who may read this.
