Hi barbarian,

Right! So, I'm still putting forth my prayer for our nation. That better people will prevail in the next election and we can get out of this totally messed up administration that is the leadership of our great nation. My hope is still that we can get through this mess without too much damage being done to foreign relationships and our internal governance that can't be fairly quickly set right again.

However, and it isn't too early to start sounding the battle cry. If enough people feel as I do, then we need to ensure that all those people make it to the polls and elect someone else through the still existing electoral college. That now moves this conversation from the current events to the political realm and so I'll stop there.

God bless,
In Christ, ted
You do know why the Democrats want to do away with the electoral college don’t you? What it would do is give the most populous areas, cities, complete control of who gets elected. The electoral college prevents the most populous states such as California and New York from controlling the elections. It gives the smaller states a say in who gets elected. That is the reason it was created.

Christian, I don't know, but it's true that in ancient Israel, the borders were open to any immigrant, and foreigners were protected by law, just as any Israelite was protected.

Does that count?
Well, those "immigrants," as you call them, had to convert to the Jewish religion, follow Israel's customs and be circumcised. Converts were treated the same as natural born.

The Dems want to get rid of the electoral college because when you don't have any good ideas for America other than banning everything, trying to control people's personal lives, shredding the Constitution, bringing in socialism, killing jobs, raising taxes, then you have to change the rules and rig the system by trying to give illegals the right to vote, lowering the voting age in order to win by creating an unbeatable majority. Getting rid of the electoral college makes it more likely that the unbeatable majority stands a chance. That's they only they can get their radical agenda put in place. For the Dems is not about governing, but about ruling.

But people change their positions on things as they get older. I don't believe the same things I did even 10 years ago. So you cannot go off of what someone said 7 or 8 years ago when it is clearly not what they believe today.

I never hold people to account for something they said years ago, but have changed their views on those matters.

Wow...we sound like really REALLY bad people.

I am talking about the Dems in Washington. They are the ones who want to change the rules and rig the system. I am not speaking of Democrat voters, necessarily. And yes, those in Washington DC who want to shred our Constitution at every turn and give privileges of citizenship to non-citizens are bad for America.

No.

Exodus 22:21
You must not exploit or oppress a foreign resident, for you yourselves were foreigners in the land of Egypt.

Leviticus 19:18
Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against any of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.

Numbers 10:32
If you come with us, we will share with you whatever good things the LORD gives us."

Deuteronomy 10:19
So you also must love the foreigner, since you yourselves were foreigners in the land of Egypt.

Deuteronomy 23:7
Do not despise an Edomite, for he is your brother. Do not despise an Egyptian, because you lived as a foreigner in his land.

Notice Edomites and Egyptians did not share Israel's religion. It made no difference to God. Much later, Jesus gave the same message to his people. "All people are your neighbors."

I can only point out that it's the Constitution that grants rights to non-citizens.

Actually I agree and as a life long Democrat, trust me it's coming. As much as Democrats hate Trump, the right is going to hate a Democrat President and then some. Open boarders are inevitable, that wall, isn't going to happen. These people that I support and secretly worry about, are on the way in. Trump fought the good fight, I guess he thought that shooting off his mouth was going to accomplish something. The truth is he is my favorite Republican President of all times, first because he accomplished little. Most importantly, he seems destined to be a one time President.

How could I ask for more? There is a real problem with open boarders, but you will see that develop over years. The trade deficit will grow, no one will care, and taxes will go up. If I were a Republican I would be worried, the rare moment when they controlled everything was a bust. A tax cut for the rich and that was it. When Democrats are in charge, trust me there will be legislation passed into law, in some cases, international law. Global warming will be an international issue and it will cost plenty.

The Federal government is not in charge, they work for the states. The states are not in charge, they work for the people. The dirty little secret is, the people are still in charge and secretly control the government.

He will build that wall, or the Democrats will have a real fun 2019. I can hardly wait to see how that turns out.

I actually believe we are headed for another civil war. But it will not be fought on battlefields but in the streets. The divide is only growing larger and folks will be forced to take a stand. Socialism can only come to the US by blood being spilled.

Power is what both the Democrats and the Republicans want. Politicians don’t care about the country and especially don’t care about you. All they want is your vote and then to control what you can and can’t do. The Dems want it in order to put themselves over you and bring in Socialism. The Republicans speak a lot about freedom but the secretly want power over you as well.

The only hope we have is that when the war comes, and it will come, the right side, no pun intended, wins.

Relax. It's mostly here now. Social Security; welfare, (both personal and corporate), Medicaid, etc. The question is how much we need/can tolerate.

Power is what both the Democrats and the Republicans want. Politicians don’t care about the country and especially don’t care about you.

Not a good generalization. On both the left and the right, there are/have been politicians who cared mostly for America and Americans. We just don't have many of them in office right now. But a reckoning is coming. Not a civil war, the institutionalized rebellion of voting. Why do you think politicians are trying to Gerrymander and trying to keep legal voters from voting?

And yes, democrats have Gerrymandered as well. And it wouldn't surprise me if they cited 75% of the illegal voting in the 2016 election, to restrict absentee voting. (which is favored by more conservative people)

The only hope we have is that when the war comes, and it will come, the right side, no pun intended, wins.

If the 2018 elections are any indicator, they will. You'll see more ethical conservatives, as well as liberals this time.

So far the one most vocal/consistent one has been President Trump. Maybe you should talk to him about "shredding the Constitution"? He said it in 2012 and 2018. Sounds like he really doesn't like the college nor cares very much for the Constitution for that matter. :sorry:

I am not speaking of Democrat voters, necessarily. And yes, those in Washington DC who want to shred our Constitution at every turn and give privileges of citizenship to non-citizens are bad for America.

The Bible does not say the Edomites could practice their own pagan religion in the verses you quoted. That is something you are adding to the text. All those verses say is that they are not to oppress a foreigner living in their midst.

Nowhere in the Bible does God say that pagans could live among the Israelites and practice their pagan religions like sacrificing their children to Moloch or worship Baal or whatever. No provision is ever made for that by God.

In fact, Israel's downfall is precisely their unwillingness to stop the growing trend of idolatry that stemmed from Solomon's practice of allowing his pagan wives to worship their gods. Israelites began adopting the pagan practices of foreigners and this contributed to the primary reason for division of the Kingdoms and their exile from the land.

Especially, when their values are "whatever works out best for me."
That's how some people spin it, but the fact is that most of us have changed our positions on various things in our lives. So it is hypocritical to condemn in others while justifying it in ourselves.

So that everyone's vote would count equally, and the winner of an election would be the one most people voted for? That sounds like the opposite of "rigging" to me.

It is mob rule. The problem is that over half of the US lives in just 145 counties in the US in cities like New York and down the eastern seaboard, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Kansas City, etc. It would mean that the urban centers would control who becomes president and the rest of the country would have no say at all, so everyone's vote wouldn't actually count.

Benjamin Franklin said that democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what's for dinner.

The Electoral College prevents those with larger populations from having more say than the smaller states in the Midwest. It means that presidential candidates would only campaign in urban centers and those urban centers and candidates would be beholden those cities in terms of the policies they run their campaigns on. And their chances of re-election would be contingent on satisfying those population centers.

I can only point out that it's the Constitution that grants rights to non-citizens.
but not the rights and privileges that only belong to citizens.

Actually, Trump has accomplished a stunning number of things in just the first couple of years. In fact, he has done more in terms of keeping campaign promises than any prior president. He even did things that we told could not be done. Here is a list of his accomplishments >>> Complete List of President Trump’s Historic Accomplishments

Trump has fixed problems in less than two years that the political establishment couldn't fix in 30 years, because they really don't care about the prosperity of the country.

How could I ask for more? There is a real problem with open boarders, but you will see that develop over years. The trade deficit will grow, no one will care, and taxes will go up. When the Democrats get back in office we will get open borders, high unemployment, higher taxes, socialism, poverty, less freedom, no national sovereignty, a shredded Constitution, activist judges in the SCOTUS who will make law from the bench...

The Federal government is not in charge, they work for the states. The states are not in charge, they work for the people. The dirty little secret is, the people are still in charge and secretly control the government.
LOL, that is not true at all. The people don't control anything. The federal government is not beholden to us at all. They see us as their subjects. They are the ruling elite in their eyes.

He will build that wall, or the Democrats will have a real fun 2019. I can hardly wait to see how that turns out.
He will get re-elected and after he is out of office, if a Dem gets in, the US will go the way of Venezuela.
