Wake up, conservatives.

This is the big lie that is being perpetuated in politics. As the parties fight over impeachment and soap operas, they get together and agree on the fundamentals of the republic in the budget bill and defense authorization bill with little dissent. And Trump will sign both bills.

IIRC the democrats rule the House where all spending bills orginate.....of course I guess they could close the government (not a bad idea) or the democrats could behave like the adults they claim to be and craft a reasonable spending bill.....3 guesses what they will do....and the first 2 guesses don't count.

Spending bills originate in the House but can be freely amended in the Senate.

Does the actions of the democrats somehow absolve Republicans of responsibility for passing this spending bill?

You said they produced this spending bill.

Did they not?
It is a continuing resolutiion...basically, let's keep spending like we did last year...it is not even close to a budget. But don't feel too put out, the R's have been doing the same thing for the past several years......

LOL.....what actions? That was the whole point of my comment....

And the point of the thread is that Republicans who claim to be fiscally responsible are acting anything but. Yet here you are bringing up the Democrats for some reason?

There are variations in policy between administrations, differences between red team and blue team are not always distinct, that's why I don't support one team or the other, I'm a swing voter.

MAGA - run up the largest deficits without a recession.

The Congressional Budget Office announced earlier this week that the deficit for the first two months of fiscal year 2020 was $342 billion. That is an astounding number on many levels. It is 12 percent higher than last year, when we were already shocked at how quickly spending had increased under Republicans. Toward the end of Obama’s second term, annual deficits for the full 12 months were only about $500-$700 billion. However, the situation is even more appalling than under Obama.

For the first two months of FY 2010, the first fiscal year of Obama, the deficit was $296 billion. But that was amid the worst recession of a generation, with unemployment at 10 percent and people lining the rolls of unemployment benefits and food stamps. Revenues were also down sharply as a result of the recession and unemployment, buoying the deficits. Yet, here we are with record low 3.5 percent unemployment and record high revenue, yet deficits are even higher. It’s all because both parties won’t stop spending.

There's a lot of rhetoric about Ronald Reagan doing wonders for the economy despite his apparently disastrous policies, I've read on CF that only Reagan could get those policies to work, but I don't think he was actually a magician.

What actually happened was Ronnie trashed the trade balance as revealed by the Current Account Deficit which includes both visible and invisible trade:

The big villains are Reagan, Clinton and GW Bush. Putting things in perspective, the National Debt is a problem of similar size and the Medicare Debt is even bigger.

There is a huge amount of assets to secure the debt - 145 Trillion in natural resources, and that's what the elite wanting to bankrupt and neutralize the US want to take. So the media and various groups are actually out to trash the US economy to asset strip the country. The UK has a similar situation.

Even worse are WHAT they are spending on. The Wall. Children in cages. Housing Air Force members in Trump's Scottish golf course to prop up his business. Luxury vacations for the president, who has outspent other presidents taking vacations many times over.

Because, they are in charge of the House where those bills originate.

It’s all because both parties won’t stop spending.
Most of the budget is mandated spending which leaves little discretionary spending to cut.
Mandatory spending has taken up a larger share of the federal budget over time.[2] In fiscal year (FY) 1965, mandatory spending accounted for 5.7 percent of gross domestic product (GDP).[3] In FY 2016, mandatory spending accounted for about 60 percent of the federal budget and over 13 percent of GDP.[4] Mandatory spending received $2.4 trillion of the total $3.9 trillion of federal spending in 2016.[4]

And the Republicans are in charge of the Senate which has passed the bill. Would you care to actually hold those who claim fiscal responsibility to task or is it only ever the other sides fault?
