I've heard of this idea, but don't know much about it. Could a failure to obediently consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart be the cause of the past several decades of theological weirdness in the Catholic Church?

Pope Pius XII consecrated with the world's bishops, the entire World to the Immaculate Heart in 1942 and afterwards, made on upon the Ecclesiastical Calendar, the "Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary" an official feast day upon the liturgical calendar. So the Consecration of Fatima was fulfilled by the Pope, although, much later than asked. Hence, the Spread of Communism.

As I mentioned, Sr Lucia did seem to think that the Consecration had been fulfilled, though there were three separate Consecrations, by Pius XII of the whole world in 1949 and specifically of Russia in 1952, and by John Paul II in 1984. I believe the best evidences of this, besides Sr Lucia's words, are the fall of the Berlin Wall 5 years after John Paul II's consecration, the fall of the Soviet Union not long after that, and the meteoric rise of Russian Orthodoxy in the decades after that. Not that I'm not concerned by the ways this rise plays out in the public sphere...

I don't think so. Normally, age won't make a person to look like a new person.
