We already have a sketchbook thread for paintings, drawings, etc. This is a similar thread for folks to post their interesting photos (scenery, macros, etc. not necessarily all your family photos!).

Post your favorites, and discuss!

Starting things off. This was taken on a trip to Duluth, MN. It is the last ship to see the Edmond Fitzgerald before it sank. I couldn't believe I was able to get the whole thing in one frame!

Some facts about the SS Arthur M. Anderson

Launched on 16 February, 1952.

Length:
  • 647 ft (197 m) (as built)
  • 767 ft (234 m) feet,
Capacity: 25,300 tons

These first few were taken with a Canon Power Shot A590IS point and shoot.

That old high chair is cool looking. And the light on the wooden floors looks great. What camera were you using?

Not my usual inclination, but I was trying to simulate 水墨 style.
Does this have post processing or did you fade out the background through a camera setting? Interesting!

Extreme post processing. Lots of work to make it look like a brush painting.

There are some GIMP plug-ins,
GIMP users
but I like to do my own.

I believe it was a Pentax K20d. It's actually an HDR; I needed open shadows in the kitchen corners, without blowing out the brickwork outside the window.

Good HDR doesn't scream "Hey! I'm an HDR!"

Nice! Yeah, I often don't take the time to composite them but some photos definitely need to tone down areas and deepen others.

That does look like an eye. Though needs an eyelash trim!

Photography is not my choice of art except for recording images, that i may use as reference for a drawing or painting when i can not paint or draw directly from life. So these photos are by no means meant to be thought of as art photography or art, they are just a few photos i have taken looking different effects made by the atmosphere. There is no computer work on these photos they are shown just as they appear after being taken with the camera. My cameras are just simple Nikon point and shoots.
