Disagree with your presentation.
You lost me in your opening statement and your definition of Rest meaning Sabbath.

Ex. 2:24 And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.

Ex. 3:15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.

Ex. 6:8 And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I am the LORD.

Lev. 26:40 If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me;

41 And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity:

42 Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.

Num 32:11 Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:

12 Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite, and Joshua the son of Nun: for they have wholly followed the LORD.

I could go on and on but this should be enough to understand that God gave Israel the Covenant He made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. This Covenant included God's Laws, Commandments, Judgments and Statutes.

But there was also a Covenant "ADDED" to these Laws "Till the Seed should Come."

It was a Covenant God made on Mt. Sinai with Levi, on Israel's behalf. It was a Priesthood set up to administer God's Commandments, Statutes, and Laws, and also provided for the atonement of men who Transgressed these Commandments, Statutes and Laws.

Ex. 27:21 In the tabernacle of the congregation without the vail, which is before the testimony, Aaron and his sons shall order it from evening to morning before the LORD: it shall be a statute for ever unto their generations on the behalf of the children of Israel.

Abraham had God's Laws, Statutes and Commandments, but Abraham didn't have this Levitical Priesthood. Paul said it wasn't "ADDED" Til the Seed should come". Abraham was justified "apart" from these Laws of Justification or atonement.

This Law dealt with two things.

#1. How God's Laws were administered

#2. How transgressions of HIS Laws were atoned for.

Jer 31:33
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. ( A change in How God's Laws are administered)

34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. (A change in how men's transgressions of HIS Laws are atoned for)

I do not understand why so many religious men omit these Words from their religious belief. God Himself tells us what happened to the Covenant He made on Mt. Sinai.

Mal, 2:4 And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.

5 My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him for the fear wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name.

6 The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity.

7 For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.

8 But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.

9 Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as ye have not kept my ways, but have been partial in the law.

So what did God promise to do about this Covenant?

Heb. 8:
7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.

8 For finding fault with them, (Levite Priests) he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

A NEW and better way to administer God's Laws, and a New and better way to atone for the transgression of these Laws. Just as God Himself Promised.

Heb 8:13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
There are "many" religious voices that imply in their preaching that the entire Law and Prophets vanished away, including God's Laws, Statutes and Commandments He promised to write on the hearts of His People, not just the manner in which God's Laws are administered, and the manner in which sins are atoned for, that HE Himself defined for us.

I would suggest we "Take Heed" of this teaching from men who come in HIS Name, as the Christ Himself warned.

No need to be lost in what your reading dear friend. What is it that you did not understand? As shown in the Hebrew the word used for "rested" [שׁבת; shâbath H7673] in GENESIS 2:1-3 is the root word for Sabbath [שׁבּת; shabbâth H7676] which is the noun (description) of what is being kept. The word "rest" the root word for Sabbath is the verb form as to how the Sabbath (noun) is kept and means "to keep Sabbath". What is it you disagree with?

...........

GENESIS 2:1-3 [1], Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. [2], And ON THE SEVENTH DAY God ended his work which he had made; and he RESTED [שׁבת; shâbath H7673; Keep Sabbath] on the SEVENTH DAY from all his work which he had made. [3], And GOD BLESSED THE SEVENTH DAY AND MADE IT HOLY: because that in it he had RESTED [שׁבת; shâbath H7673; Keep Sabbath] from all his work which God created and made.

...........

Hebrew and Greek Dictionaries w/TVM, Strong - H7673
שׁבת; shâbath; shaw-bath' A primitive root; to repose, that is, desist from exertion; used in many implied relations (causatively, figuratively or specifically): - (cause to, let, make to) cease, celebrate, cause (make) to fail, keep sabbath, suffer to be lacking, leave, put away (down), (make to) rest, rid, still, take away.

............

"rested; rest and resting " [שׁבת; shâbath H7673 -verb doing sabbath] is how the Sabbath (שׁבּת; shabbâth H7676) which is the noun of rest which is the verb for keeping the Sabbath or how the Sabbath is kept. The Hebrew word for rested (שׁבת; shâbath H7673) used in GENESIS 2:1-3 means to "keep sabbath"

Not very hard dear friend. What is it you do not understand?

Yes, It is true that the covenant made with Abraham included the children of Israel entering the promised land (Canaan. You're failing to recognize that God also made a covenant with the Children of Israel at Sinai (Horeb). Ex 19 and 20.
The scriptures clearly distinguishes the Mosaic Covenant from the Abrahamic covenant:
Deu 5:2The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.
Deu 5:3 The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.
Deu 5:4The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire,
This Mosaic Covenant was not made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (fathers).
The rest of Deut 5 tells you plainly that the Mosaic covenant is the ten commandments.
This debunks your entire responses in this post. You and others have no choice but to contradict God's word that says "the law came by Moses".
Clue: God's covenants spells
sigh.....cant process this as truths I suggest you start reading from Gen 1.

You are omitting some very important truths here. By the time Duet 5 had come to pass, Israel had already broken God's Laws, Commandments, and Statutes. The wages of such disrespect is death.

Ex. 32:9 And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people: 10 Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.

God destroyed Sodom for doing the same thing. And several thousand were killed. So why were there some still some alive in this day in Deut 5? Was it because of the Covenant God made with their fathers? No. Was it because they obeyed the Commandments of God? NO!! It was because Moses stood between them and God and pleaded for a way to make atonement for them.

So why were they still alive "this day"?

Because God also made a Covenant with Levi on Israels behalf. That was "ADDED" to His Commandments, Statutes and Laws, because of Transgressions.

29 For Moses had said, Consecrate yourselves to day to the LORD, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day.

30 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up unto the LORD; peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin.

A Law of atonement Abraham did not have. As Paul; points out.

Gal. 3:19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. (Moses and Aaron, who administered God's Commandments, and provided for the atonement of people who sinned until the Seed should come.)

According to the God of the Bible, it was this Covenant that changed. Not the Covenant God made with their fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, which included God's Judgments, Statutes, Laws and Commandments.

It depends on which voice you trust to define "Mosaic Covenant". If you believe the "other religious voice" that preaches that God's Commandments, Statutes, and Laws didn't exist until Moses, then you might be convinced that EVERY LAW God gave Moses is the "Mosaic" covenant. This is a popular religious doctrine, but untrue if one believe the Holy Scriptures.

If one believes all that is written, then they would understand that the Mosaic Covenant which changed, was the Covenant of the Priesthood God gave for the atonement of the sin's of God's People that were still alive in Duet. 5. This Law didn't exist before Moses.

You are ignoring the Covenant God made with Levi on Israel's behalf.

So God made a Covenant with the son's of Aaron and created a Priesthood to atone for the sins of the people. This was the Covenant God promised to "change" in Jer, 31. It dealt with how God's Laws are administered, and how transgressions of God's Laws are atoned for. If you were to read God's definition of His Own New Covenant, you would see this to be true.

Keeping the 10 Commandments isn't why they were alive in Duet 5. It was the Priesthood atonement God provided for them. If not for this "LAW", Moses and Joshua would be standing alone with God in Duet 5.

Reading God's Word does one little good if one is in the practice of omitting and ignoring most of what it says.

What I disagree with is highlighted in pink.

First, to a make a point about root words. The root word for 'illegal' is 'legal', so therefore, these two words have opposite meaning. This proves that root words are origins and does NOT have the exact meaning.

Secondly, Implying that 'shabat' is the verb form as to how Sabbath is kept", is a false and ignorant statement, because shabat H7673 is used 73 in the KJV and only 1 time it's definition rendered as keep sabbath.
2Ch 36:21.

Yes, the fact that Sabbath keeping requires resting does show a close relationship with sabbath and resting. But bible usage is clear that 72 times it's not the noun Sabbath.

Transliteration
shabath
Pronunciation
shä·vath' cease (47x), rest (11x), away (3x), fail (2x), celebrate (1x), miscellaneous (7x).

click on 'cease' above to see the 47 times that shabath is not related directly to Sabbath.
click on 'rest' above to see the 11 times that shabath in Gen 2:2 and Gen 2:3 defined as rested, rest, resting and not Sabbath.
As shown above Rested means rested in Gen2:2 and Gen2:3 and not "keep Sabbath".
Most definitions of sabath must takes all 73 bible usage of shabath and must include the 1 time it means keep Sabbath. It's actually more fitting that 'cease' applies to Gen 2:2 and Gen 2:3.

Again, to be clear, 1 of 73 usage defines shabat H7673 as keep sabbath. it's should be your burden to prove otherwise.
............
Honest truth does matter LGW. The bottom line is; The Hebrew word for rested שָׁבַת (shabath),used in Gen 2:1-3 means rested (sabath), as is written in all bibles, not keep sabbath.
When you apply the definition you skew the details.

Here is the KJV translation usage of the word shabath
Strong's Number H7673 matches the Hebrew שָׁבַת (shabath),
which occurs 73 times in 67 verses in the Hebrew concordance of the KJV
Gen (3) Exo (6) Lev (6) Deu (1)
Jos (2) Rth (1) 2Ki (2) 2Ch (2)
Neh (2) Job (1) Psa (4) Pro (2)
Isa (8) Jer (6) Lam (2) Eze (13)
Dan (2) Hos (3) Amo (1)

click on 2Ch above to see where in the scriptures "keep Sabbath" is defined by Sabath.
click on Gen to see Genesis definition of Sabath7673 is 'rested' and not keep Sabbath.

Love you too, but strongly disagree with your tactics.

You should know this stuff Studyman.
You have to deny this covenant because of your commentary about when the law was given and your denial that Gal 3 is talking about the law.

Deu 5:2 The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.

What covenant was made at Horeb (Sinai)?
Deu 5:3 The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.
What covenant was not made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob?
In Deut 5:4-22 Moses recounts what happened at Mt Sinai in Ex 20. So, i didn't skip anything.
Deu 5:4 The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire,
Deu 5:5(I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to shew you the word of the LORD: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount;) saying, ( The covenant, which is The ten commandments, "The law that came" according to Gal 3 you're denying...)
[IMG] Deu 5:17

Thou shalt not kill.

Deu 5:18

Neither shalt thou commit adultery.

Deu 5:19
Neither shalt thou steal.

Sir, Moses is reminding them what happened 40yrs ago at Sinai (Horeb). I'm showing you exactly what Moses and God said about the covenant being made with the Children of Israel. (Don't change the channel)
What you're saying about Levi did not happen at Mt Sinai. You're playing a game I cant play with you any longer.

Deu 5:22¶These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.

Clue: If the ark of the covenant held the two tables of stone, you have some 'splaining' to do about if this covenant was the law, or with Abraham, Levi or The Children of Israel.
Commentary don't get it.

The Law Paul is speaking about was "ADDED" to something, because of "Transgression" of something, 430 years after Abraham was blessed "Because", and I will quote the Word of God which became Flesh;

Gen. 26:5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

Now I know you preach God's Commandments, Statutes, and Laws didn't exist before Moses. So here I am in the same place Eve was.

I have your voice, telling me God's Laws, Commandments, Statutes, and Judgments did not exist before God gave them to Moses?

And I have the Word of God which became Flesh, telling me Abraham was given, and obeyed God's Laws, Commandments, and Statutes.

If I didn't have the Examples the same God had written for my admonition, I might make the same error Eve made and listen to you over the Word of God. But I have the examples, so I will not be choosing your words over God's Word's today.

But Israel already broke them by this time. They had already transgressed this Covenant.

Ex. 19:
5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:

But they didn't keep This Covenant Cribstyl. How is it that they are still alive in Duet 5? God was prepared to give them what they deserved as I posted, but you ignored. Why did God spare them?

Of course you can not answer this perfectly relevant question, because the answer exposes your error. But I will let God answer it for you.

Ex. 20:20 And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.

21 And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.

22 And the LORD said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.

23 Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.

Ex. 25:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

2 Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering.

8 And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.

9 According to all that I shew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it.

21 In the tabernacle of the congregation without the vail, which is before the testimony, Aaron and his sons shall order it from evening to morning before the LORD: it shall be a statute for ever unto their generations on the behalf of the children of Israel.

Ex. 26:1 And take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office, even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons.

Ex. 28:43 And they shall be upon Aaron, and upon his sons, when they come in unto the tabernacle of the congregation, or when they come near unto the altar to minister in the holy place; that they bear not iniquity, and die: it shall be a statute for ever unto him and his seed after him.

So here I am again, in Eve's situation. I have you who are preaching to the world that God didn't make a Covenant with Levi on Mt. Sinai (Aaron and his sons) but if I read God's Word, there HE is giving Levi exclusively the Levitical Priesthood, on Mt. Sinai.

So twice in one post you are preaching one thing, while God is teaching another.

And then what? What did Moses do with the tablets? Were the Children of Israel allowed to rent the tables of Stone to read to their families? Who was given the exclusive duty to read the inscriptions which contained God's Commandments, Statutes and Laws that HE wrote down? Of course you will not answer.

Who was in charge of the Ark of the Covenant? Who did God make a Covenant with on Mt. Sinai who could "ALONE" even touch the Ark?

I'll give you a hint.

Mal. 2:4 And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.

5 My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him for the fear wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name.

And when was this?

Ex. 32:26 Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD'S side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

You have been tricked my friend. And the sad part is that you are convinced you have not.

I too, am growing tired of your games. When you are willing to answer the question "who was the Levitical Priesthood given to, and when was it given", then maybe we can continue this discussion. But as long as you refuse to accept what the "Law" Paul is speaking about was "ADDED" too, because of Transgression of "What", then there is no need to continue.

Your response here...
Sorry dear friend your incorrect here. You have only part quoted post # 85 linked here so your leaving out and not addressing the context and content of my post for which I have provided the HEBREW Word meanings as further proof to what you have part quoted me saying above. In the case of GENESIS 2:1-3 the Hebrew word used for "REST" is indeed the root word of "Sabbath" which is the verb form related directly to "keeping Sabbath" or how to keep the Sabbath by "RESTING". The Hebrew word for Sabbath is the noun of what is being kept by "RESTING and the verb of doing sabbath or how the Sabbath is kept. You were posted the HEBREW word meaing here for "RESTED" in GENESIS 2:1-3 the literal meaning here is TO REST, REPOSE, DESIST, PUT AWAY, "KEEPING SABBATH
this word meaning needs to be applied to scripture context of GENESIS 2:1-3 for interpretation. RESTING FROM WORK is the CONTEXT of RESTING in GENESIS 2:1-3 and is how to keep Sabbath.

This is further verified in God's 4th commandment where further instruction is given by God on how to "KEEP SABBATH BY RESTING (NO WORK)" here...

EXODUS 20:8-11 [8], REMEMBER THE SABBATH [שׁבּת; shabbâth H7676 noun of what is being kept; from one sabbath to another sabbath or every sabbath] DAY, TO KEEP IT HOLY [Made Holy at creation GENESIS 2:3]. {How to keep the Sabbath?} [9], Six days shall you labor, and do all your work: [10], But THE SEVENTH DAY [referring back to Genesis 2:1-3] IS THE SABBATH [שׁבּת; shabbâth H7676 noun of what is being kept; from one sabbath to another sabbath or every sabbath] OF THE LORD YOUR GOD: IN IT YOU SHALL NOT DO ANY WORK [resting], you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gates: [WHY?] [11], FOR IN SIX DAYS THE LORD MADE HEAVEN AND EARTH, THE SEA, AND ALL THAT IS IN THEM IS, AND RESTED THE SEVENTH DAY; WHEREFORE THE LORD BLESSED THE SABBATH DAY AND MADE IT HOLY. According to the HEBREWS, GREEK and GENESIS 2:1-3; EXODUS 20:8-11 and HEBREWS 4:9 and the scripture definitions RESTING is how to keep the Sabbath by ceasing from all work on the "seventh day", all are saying the same thing. The Sabbath is kept Holy by "RESTING" all of which agree with the HEBREW root word definition of
H7673; שׁבת; shâbath which is the verb of the noun derivative of Sabbath which means to " REST which is TO KEEP SABBATH" or the sabbath is kept holy by "RESTING" (no work).
Nonsense, but let me explain why. If you understand the Hebrew and Greek word usage and applications they are always applied to the context to which they are applied as many Hebrew and Greek words, unlike the english have more then one word meaning so it is the application and context that determines the word meaning, usage and applications.

The word meaings applied both here in this post and the original post in post # 85 linked, show only application to context of H7673; שׁבת; shâbath in GENESIS 2:1-3 (verb) and שׁבּת; shabbâth H7676 noun in EXODUS 20:8-11 (noun) to the scriptures to which they are used in. This means what I have provided you is to the scripture context and application and meanings to which they are used and applied to demonstrating CONTEXT OF APPLICATION to the Hebrew words of H7673; שׁבת; shâbath in GENESIS 2:1-3 (verb) and שׁבּת; shabbâth H7676 noun in EXODUS 20:8-11 (noun)

You should know dear friend that the scripture context determines the Hebrew and Greek Word meanings. Your trying to make an argument here away from GENESIS 2:1-3 and EXODUS 20:8-11 which is the context and application of H7673; שׁבת; shâbath in GENESIS 2:1-3 and שׁבּת; shabbâth H7676 noun in EXODUS 20:8-11 to which they are used.

This is why you claims in this section of your post are in error and why I said nonsense earlier. I hope you can receive this correction in the Spirit it was given as a help to you. Everything provided here can be googled and verified elsewhere in relation to the application use in referece to the scripture contexts of HEBREWS and GREEK word meanings and application for interpretation. Prayer and google will be your friend here. Sorry dear friend but your simply wrong as outlined above.
Honest truth does matter LGW. The bottom line is; The Hebrew word for rested שָׁבַת (shabath),used in Gen 2:1-3 means rested (sabath), as is written in all bibles, not keep sabbath.
Your problem here is that you are trying to argue word meaning over CONTEXT that is not now interpretation of the scriptures work in the Hebrew and Greek language. As posted earlier the context to "RESTED" H7673; שׁבת; shâbath in GENESIS 2:1-3 is this...

Reading the scriptures here you will see the reason why God "RESTED" the CONTEXT shows here that God "FINISHED" his work v1 and on the "SEVENTH DAY he RESTED" [שׁבת; shâbath H7673; Keep Sabbath, rested, repose, cease from labor] because on the "SEVENTH DAY" God "BLESSED THE SEVENTH DAY AND MADE IT A HOLY DAY BECAUSE HE RESTED FROM ALL HIS WORK WHICH HE CREATED AND MADE v3.

So the context determines applicaiton here. RESTED is how we keep the Sabbath as shown in the context of the scriptures above and the word meanings applied to them. The same is shown in EXODUS 20:8-11. Let me ask you what came first God's RESTING or the SABBATH? There was no Sabbath before God rested on the SEVENTH DAY of the week before God blessed and made holy the seventh day for all mankind *MARK 2:17.
This is just repitition you have already posted and addressed above. Your not applying word meanings to context here. The context of discussion is GENESIS 2:1-3 and EXODUS 20:8-11. This is where your problem is. I was never arguing that the only meaning to GENESIS 2:1-4 was keeping Sabbath. I was only arguing the "RESTING" verb [שׁבת; shâbath H7673; Keep Sabbath, rested, repose, cease from labor] is how the Sabbath is kept.
Well thankyou dear friend but I have not provided any tactics. I have only proived the scriptures to context that you have missed. I hope this post may be a help to you.

May God bless you as you seek him through His Word.

In post#88 I quoted your entire post #85 in 4 parts and addressed everything you said.
I no choice but to repeat rebuttals of what you was saying. Sorry, I will not chase this long post because you have not addressed post 88 to my satisfaction.

Indeed though the way you quoted me left out the context and did not address the content of the post as you were quoting from as shown in post # 91 linked. This post was only provided as a help and correction for you. You are free to read it or not. It is up to you.
