    Just something to think about:
Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in(in not out of) the kingdom of heaven Matt5:19

I didn't put that verse up to be contentious. But on another website, someone kept telling me: We must read the bible as a cohesive whole
He said that, because, at that time I was plucking verses out at random to debate with him. As we rarely saw eye to eye, I ignored, at the time his repeated statement. But, over time I came to see the wisdom of what he said. The bible's a big book, and to bring all scripture into alignment is far from easy. I don't think I have ever come across anyone who has succeeded, but we can always endeouver to get closer can't we

    Part 4

Chapt 2:15-24 Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. 17 The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.

18 Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have appeared; from this we know that it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, so that [d]it would be shown that they all are not of us. 20 [e]But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know. 21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it, and [f]because no lie is of the truth. 22 Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the [g]Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. 23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also. 24 As for you, let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father.

We are not to love the world or the things in the world v.15
This is similar to what Yeshua said about loving family more than Him. (See Mat 10:37)

The lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the boastful pride of life is not of the Father v.16
This has several similarities. One is the temptation in the Garden. Eve was told that the fruit was "good for food" (lust of the flesh), "a delight to the eyes" (lust of the eyes), "desirable to make one wise" (boastful pride of life) see Gen 3:6 also the temptation of Yeshua in the wilderness. "command that these stones become bread", (lust of the flesh), "showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory", (lust of the eyes), "stand on the pinnacle of the temple and *said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written,‘He will command His angels concerning You’ an On their hands they will bear You up, So that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’” (Boastful pride of life). See Mat 4:1-6

John is illustrating the working of the evil one, we would be wise to listen.

Even in John's day it was considered the last hour, how much closer is it now? V.18

Anti-messiahs are in the world today and they came from amongst us! vv.18-19

The one who denies Yeshua is the Messiah is the anti-messiah. v.22

What we heard from the beginning should abide in us. v.24

I kinda see what you were getting at before. Pardon my non-response.

If I did have kids I would tell them that I loved them even if they made bad choices. I also would point out that bad choices sometimes has bad consequences but that I still loved them. (This is assuming that I actually did love my kids ; ) Just kidding.

I would tell them them that there will always be struggles but if we do what is right we can gain strength and wisdom thru these struggles. And I would tell them that I will always be there with them especially during the tuff times. Then I would kick them out of the house and tell them to bring back a paper! ; )

    Study on I John

    Part 5

I John 2:25 This is the promise which He Himself [h]made to us: eternal life.

26 These things I have written to you concerning those who are trying to deceive you. 27 As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, [i]you abide in Him.

28 Now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not [j]shrink away from Him in shame [k]at His coming. 29 If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone also who practices righteousness is [l]born of Him.

What a promise, what could exceed it? We have eternal life in Messiah Yeshua! v.25

There ARE those who are trying to deceive us! v.26

The true believer has an anointing that we can know the truth and we do not need an organized religion or anyone to teach us these truths. v.27

Everyone that practices righteousness is born of Him v.29

Righteousness is defined as Faith in God and obedience to His Word. See Gen 15:6, Deut 6:25, Psalm 119:172

What does it mean to be "UNDER THE LAW" according to God's WORD?

ROMANS 3:19-20 [19], Now we know that what things soever the law said, it said to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. [20], Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

To be "UNDER THE LAW" means to be guilty before God of SIN and breaking it.

It sounds like youre saying hide from God's LAW it will show you what sin is. This is not what the scriptures are saying whatsoever.

We are not dying to the God's LAW (10 Commandments). The scriptures says we are to die to sin (or the sinful human nature through faith)...

    ROMANS 7:6
[6], But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.

    Q.
What was it that God's LAW shows in ROMANS 7 that has bound us?

Let's go back to the verse that is before for CONTEXT....

    ROMANS 7:5 [5],
For when we were in the FLESH <G4561 Carnal mind or sinful human nature>, the motions of SINS, which were by the law <Romans 3:20 For by the law is the knowledge of sin>, did work in our members to bring forth fruit to death <Romans 6:23 the wages of SIN is death>.

    A. It is SIN that has bound us!

    ................

We die to sin not God's LAW...

    ROMANS 6:2
[2] God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

    ROMANS 6:11
[11] Likewise reckon you also yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

ROMANS 6:13 [13] Neither yield you your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin <links to Romans 7:5>: but yield yourselves to God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

ROMANS 8:10 [10], And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

    ................

    CONCLUSION:
7v6 therefore, The "dying to what once bound us" means we are to die to the SINS that have bound us. v7:6 means; we are released from the penalty and condemnation of the law because of our SINS which have bound us. Meaning that through repentance and faith in God's WORD we have been forgiven for our sins to recieve God's Spirit to LOVE and FOLLOW him who calls us in LOVE to LOVE another. God's LAW has the same purpose it always has and that is to give us a KNOWLEDGE of what SIN is, lead us to Chirst that we can be forgiven by FAITH so we can walk in the SPIRIT to follow him who first loved us (Romans 3:20, 1 John 1:9; Romans 3:31)

    ................

SIN is the breaking of God's Commandments (James 2:9-11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4)

Those who CONTINUE in UNREPENTANT SIN will NOT enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.

    ................

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has led many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's 4th Commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to KEEP Sunday as a Holy day.

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

In times of ignorance God winks at but now ,<when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come> calls all men everywhere to REPENT (FOLLOW) (Acts 17:30-31).

Not at all. We are all SINNERS in need of a Savior this is true and without Jesus we can do nothing at all but sin.

God's WORD however does not teach that a Chirstian continues in SIN. Those who CONTINUE in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN will be LOST (Hebrews 10:26-27; Hebrews 6:4-8).

Salvation is from SIN not in SIN (John 8:31-36).

    1 JOHN 1:8-10

[8], If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

All we are without Jesus are sinners and all we can do without Jesus is sin because we have a sinfaul human nature. ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God there is none righteous no not one (Romans 3:23; Romans 3:10)

[9], If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

God's promise of forgiveness and CLEANSING from SIN.

[10], If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

If we say we have not sinned is past tense not future...

If we do sin in the future we have an advocate...

1 JOHN 2:1-3 [1], My little children, these things write I to you, that you sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

It is not God's desire for us to sin however once we come to him in FAITH... hence the scriptures that follow..

[2], And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
[3], And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
[4], He that said, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

1 JOHN 3:6-9 [6], [6], Whosoever abides in him sins not: whosoever sins has not seen him, neither known him. [7], Little children, let no man deceive you: he that does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. [8], He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. [9], Whosoever is born of God does not commit sin; for his nature remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. [10], In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever does not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loves not his brother.

    ................

SIN is the breaking of God's Commandments (James 2:9-11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4)

As far as the the term "LAW OF LIBERTY" is concerned God's WORD links OBEDIENCE to GOD's LAW by FAITH that works by LOVE as FREEDOM from the BONDAGE OF SIN...

JOHN 8:31-36 [31], Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed; [32], And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. [33], They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in BONDAGE to any man: how say you, You shall be made free? [34], Jesus answered them, Truly, truly, I say to you, WHOSOEVER COMMITS SIN SERVANT OF SIN. [35], And the servant stays not in the house for ever: but the Son stays ever. [36], IF THE SON SHALL MAKE YOU FREE YOU SHALL BE FREE INDEED.

Jesus calls those who practice sin as the servants of sin SIN and those who commit SIN as being in BONDAGE to sin.

GALATIANS 4:1-5; 9 [1], Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differs nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; [2], But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. [3], Even so we, when we were children, were in BONDAGE under the elements of the world: [4], But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, [5], To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons....
[9], But now, after that you have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn you again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto you desire again to be in BONDAGE?

HEBREWS 2:14-15 [14], For as much then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; [15] And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to BONDAGE.

Paul calls those who are in sin subject to BONDAGE..

2 PETER 2:19 [19], While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in BONDAGE.

Jesus, Paul and Peter all relate SIN to being in BONDAGE or being a SERVANT to sin..

ROMANS 6:17-23 [17], But God be thanked, that you were the SERVANTS OF SIN, BUT YOU HAVE OBEYED FROM THE HEART THAT FORM OF DOCTINE THAT WAS DELIEVERED TO YOU. [18], BEING MADE FREE FROM SIN, you became the SERVANTS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS. [19], I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as you have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity to iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness to holiness. [20], For when you were the SERVANTS OF SIN, you were free from righteousness. [21], What fruit had you then in those things whereof you are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. [22], But now being made FREE FROM SIN, and become servants to God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end everlasting life. [23], For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Jesus explains that SIN starts in the mind (thoughts and feelings) before they become action..

MATTHEW 5:20-22 [20], For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. [21], You have heard that it was said by them of old time, You shall not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: [22], But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment..

    and again..

MATTHEW 5:27-28 [27], You have heard that it was said by them of old time, You shall not commit adultery: [28], But I say unto you, That whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.

    .................

CONCLUSION: He that commits SIN is a SERVANT OF SIN and is in BONDAGE TO SIN and SIN originates in the heart (thoughts and feelings).

    .................

SALVATION IS FREEDOM FROM SIN AND THE BONDAGE OF SIN

JOHN 8:34-36 [34], Jesus answered them, Truly, truly, I say to you, WHOSOEVER COMMITS SIN SERVANT OF SIN. [35], And the servant stays not in the house for ever: but the Son stays ever. [36], IF THE SON SHALL MAKE YOU FREE YOU SHALL BE FREE INDEED.

ROMANS 6:17-18 [17], But God be thanked, that you were the SERVANTS OF SIN, BUT YOU HAVE OBEYED FROM THE HEART THAT FORM OF DOCTINE THAT WAS DELIEVERED TO YOU. [18], BEING MADE FREE FROM SIN, you became the SERVANTS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS.

    .................

WHAT IS THE SERVANT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS?

Hebrew Strong - H6664; צדק; tsedeq; tseh'-dek RIGHTEOUSNESS from H6663; the right (natural, moral or legal); also (abstractly) equity or (figuratively) prosperity: - X even, (X that which is altogether) just (-ice), ([un-]) right (-eous) (cause, -ly, -ness).

RIGHTEOUSNESS = Right doing or to do that which is right morally

God's LAW is the KNOWLEDGE of GOOD and EVIL.

God's WORD defines RIGHTEOUSNESS as OBEDIENCE to God's LAW...

PSALMS 119:172 [172], My tongue shall speak of your word: for ALL YOUR COMMANDMENTS ARE RIGHTEOUSNESS.

    and SIN as breaking it...

ROMANS 3:20 [20] Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: FOR BY THE LAW IS THE KNOWLDGE OF SIN.

ROMANS 7:7 [7], What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. No, I HAD NOT KNOWN SIN, BUT BY THE LAW: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, You shall not covet.

1 JOHN 3:4 [4], WHOSOEVER COMMITS SIN TRANSGRESSES ALSO THE LAW; FOR SIN IS THE TRANSGRESSION OF THE LAW.

JAMES 2:11 [11], For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if you commit no adultery, yet if you kill, YOU ARE BECOME A TRANSGRESSOR OF GOD'S LAW.

    .................

CONCLUSION: BEING MADE FREE FROM SIN means to be OBEDIENT TO GOD'S LAW which is RIGHTOUESNESS BY FAITH in God's WORD that works by LOVE by walking in God's SPIRIT. Salvation is from the BONDAGE and SLAVERY of SIN. WE are now the servants of RIGHTOUESSNESS.

ROMANS 5:21[21], That as sin has reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

ROMANS 6:16 [16] Know you not, that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are to whom you obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

    .................

WHAT IS THE LAW OF LIBERTY?

JAMES 2:8-12 [8], If you fulfill the ROYAL LAW according to the scripture, YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBORE AS YOURSELF YOU DO WELL: [9], But if you have respect to persons, you commit sin, and are convicted of the law as transgressors. [10], For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.[11], For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if you commit no adultery, yet you kill, you are become a transgressor of the law. [12], So speak, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the LAW OF LIBERTY.

[18], BEING MADE FREE FROM SIN, you became the SERVANTS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS <OBEDIENCE to God's LAW Ps 119:172>.

    .................

CONCLUSION: The LAW of LIBERTY is OBEDIENCE to God's LAW (10 Commandments by FAITH that works by LOVE through walking in the SPIRIT.

    .................

There is no problem, as RIGHTEOUSNESS is OBEDIENCE by FAITH and walking in God's SPIRIT to the LAW of LIBERTY (10 Commandments) as shown through the scriptures above.

    ................

You know 1stcenturylady, all of the scripture shared here with you and to everyone for that matter is only ever written in LOVE...

    ................

SIN is the breaking of God's Commandments (James 2:9-11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4)

Those who CONTINUE in UNREPENTANT SIN will NOT enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN because they are still in BONDAGE to SIN and are SERVANTS of SIN and have not been BORN again to be FREE of the SINS they KNOW about.

What we have in common is we both walk according to the knowledge we have, rather than doing anything our conscience would rather shield us from. We are mature Christians.

I recently posted, maybe even in this thread somewhere that I love SDAs because you cover all the bases to be right with God. You keep the 10C, believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and you love your neighbor. Plus I love Choplets! I don't keep the day, but I do believe strongly that Jesus is my Sabbath rest everyday. He speaks to me, and if ever He wants me to keep His shadow, I certainly will. We seem to have the same heart toward God to be ever pleasing to Him. And according to 1 John 3:21-23 I keep those commandments and He shows me I am pleasing Him by answering all my prayers according to His will in how He directs me to pray. We both have a strong fear of the Lord, so I guess we are pretty wise. LOL I won't even date, even though my husband left me for the wife of his best friend. But God had prophesied to me the week before I found out, that He was releasing me, and that I would forget the past. I didn't know what it meant until the announcement by my husband. It was a long prophecy that came true. He released me from that abusive marriage, but he's still alive, so am not free to remarry. And if it is lawful, He hasn't brought me anyone new. And I'm sure not looking.

Your quote in James is comparing the punishment for the 10C against the law of liberty. It is not saying they are one and the same. James is just saying that we who are under the law of liberty need to be even more careful than those who had been under the Law, as they are much stricter as it demands perfection at the very core of our being. Not just murder, but all the way to hate, etc.

As for the Law of Liberty, Romans 14 is one of the best places to show us that those laws are based on our conscience, and are different for each of us. And our conscience is where the Holy Spirit seems to dwell. I make sure I go to bed with a clear conscience every night.

You say the 10C are the Laws of Liberty. No, they are in fact a few other names. The Mosaic Law, according to some, the Law, The Ministry of Death, and the law of Sin and Death, 9 For if the ministry of condemnation had glory,

" But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, (the Ten Commandments)" (2 Cor. 3:5), ministry of condemnation (2 Cor. 3:9), "set me free from the law of sin and death." Romans 8:2

The Law of Liberty is called the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ, (Romans 8:2) and Walking in the Spirit (Romans 8:1), Ministry of the Spirit (2 Cor. 3:8), ministry of righteousness (2 Cor. 3:9)

Galatians 3:22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. 23 But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. 24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.

Romans 7 tells us the law was holy. The problem was SIN. 1 John 3:5 says that Jesus was manifested to take away our sin, and in Him there is no sin. This was the fulfillment of Daniel 9 prophecy.

    To finish the transgression,
To make an end of sins,
    To make reconciliation for iniquity,
    To bring in everlasting righteousness,

    Notice:

Matthew 5:19 KJB - Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Who is doing the "call[ing]" "great" or "least"? It is those actually "in" the Kingdom who are doing the "call[ing]", not by those outside of it.

John 3:5 KJB - Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Acts 5:32 KJB - And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

The wicked who do not keep God's commandments are called the "least" [lowest, base persons] by those "in" the Kingdom, that is by those already there [ie unfallen angels, etc] or are at some point entered in [Christians, etc].

Those who do God's commandments are called "great" by those "in" the Kingdom, that is by those already there [ie unfallen angels, etc] or are at some point entered in [Christians, etc].

If I may ask, since when is the Ten Commandments of God ever "shadow"? The scripture says:

Proverbs 6:23 KJB - For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

Psalms 119:105 KJB - NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Isaiah 8:20 KJB - To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Will you tell me Colossians 2:16-17? See the context, and compare to Ephesians 2 and Hebrews 9-10 KJB. Those are carnal and shadowy things.

God's Ten Commandments are Light and Spiritual things:

Romans 7:14 KJB - For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

    See for yourself:

Show me the word "sabbath", "law", "commandment/s", "the 7th day" in the passages of Romans 14 KJB.

Romans 14 KJB, deals with the days that "man esteemeth" among men, see Luke 16:15 KJB. God esteems His Holy day [Job 23:12; Psalms 119:126-128 KJB].

The "day" in Romans 14 is associated with eating and not eating, among "men", which are days set apart for men for fasting/feasting, etc. The Jews had constantly fought with one another over which days were better to do this or that [Matthew 9:14; Mark 2:18; Luke 5:33, 18:12 KJB]. Some Jews decide that any day was fine to do any of those things, while others had specific days picked out for those things [see also the historical source the "Didache"]. Paul stated it didn't matter, and each was fine, so long as either side did it unto the LORD, to the glory of God, not for personal gain/prestige/notice [as the Pharisees had done], but that what mattered was brotherly love within the body, preferring one another.

Connect Romans 14, to 1 Corinthians 8-10 KJB. There were issues with the Gentile believers purchasing food in the shambles [marketplaces] which may have been blessed or offered before idols, and some Jews, and possibly Gentiles believers which took offence at anyone partaking of those things. Paul stated that an Idol is nothing, but the persons for whom Christ Jesus died were of value, and therefore, regard the conscience of another, and cause no one to sin, even if what was eaten was immediately lawful to a person, but such freedom within God's law, not everything is always expedient, or best to do at all times. There were also Jewish beleivers in Christ who still under their vows, even Nazarite vows, and thus things of the vine in matters of eating and drinking would come into play as well. Just because Christ Jesus died on the Cross, doesn't negate their vow - they still had to carry out what they said they would do.

If you Read Romans 1-13, the Law, the Ten Comamndments of God are spoken of and cited throughout, as eternal, as the judge of sin [Romans 7:7 KJB; in fact how did you know you needed as Saviour? What Law was transgressed by yourself? Exodus 20:1-17 KJB], and Romans 15-16 continue and complete this picture. God's Ten Commandments are Eternal [Psalms 89:34 KJB], His Sabbath from Genesis to Revelation, even into the New Heavens and New Earth [Isaiah 66:22-23 KJB].

Colossians 2 KJB, parallels Ephesians 2 KJB, and Hebrews 9-10 KJB. The language is the same. The "ordinances" in Colossians 2 deals with "shadows", such as the daily "meat and drink" offerings of a worldly sanctuary and carnal ordinances, the seasonal "feast days", the monthly "new moons", and the year based "sabbaths", in the singular, every 7 and 50th years, as Paul is citing Psalms 98:1-3; and Ezekiel 45:17 KJB with other texts.

The Sabbath of the LORD thy God is always called "my [as in God's] sabbaths", and the others in Leviticus 23:4 onward are called "your [the peoples] sabbaths" [Leviticus 26:35 KJB] which are "beside [given in addition to] the sabbaths of the LORD" [Leviticus 23:38 KJB]. The Ten Commandments, including the Sabbath of the 4th Commandment, are "light" [Proverbs 6:23, Isaiah 8:20, 51:4 KJB], never a "shadow", are "spiritual" [Romans 7:14 KJB], never "carnal" [Hebrews 9:10 KJB].

    Colossians 2:14 - "ordinances"
Ephesians 2:15 - "law of commandments contained in ordinances"
Hebrews 9:1 - "ordinances of divine service"
    Hebrews 9:10 - "carnal ordinances"

Colossians 2:16 - "in meat, or in drink" [offerings]
Hebrews 9:10 - "meats and drinks" [offerings]

Colossians 2:12 - "also ye are risen with him"
Ephesians 2:6 - "raised us up together"

Colossians 2:16 - "a shadow of things to come"
Ephesians 2:7 - "in the ages to come"
Hebrews 9:11 - "of good things to come"
Hebrews 10:1 - "the law having a shadow of good things to come", "those sacrifices", "offered year by year"

[ps. none of the Ten Commandments deal with carnal sacrifices]
    etc.

It's easy to turn a willingly blind eye to evidence when it doesn't suit our own sins and rebellion to God, even to Jesus commandment to repent [John 14:15; Exodus 20:6 KJB].

Well as I have continually stated the born again Christian cannot hide from Gods laws for they are in their most inward parts, it is obvious why you passed such a silly comment. No point in responding to the rest of your post, just a rehash of what you have previously said,

If you were not someone who only had the ability to see the letter itself you would be able to discern, as would istcenturylady that the Christian is delivered from a lifestyle of sin. That is what they die to and are dead to. The Christian is not sin free. They are a work in progress all their life. I can only assume, as you agree with istcenturylady you must also believe the Corinthian church did not commit sin. Hopeless I'm afraid And, if you could summon up the courage/humility to be honest, you would admit you commit sin also. In my view, it is better to be honest, not just reel the partial letter from the top of our heads that is devoid of the reality of our lives.
Neither would you keep quoting 1John 3:9 with your understanding of it to a young teenager would you(well you would be stupid to do it.)

This may be an internet debating website, but do try not to separate what you write here from the reality of your life

    BTW
The emboldened is correct, in respect of the Christians righteousness being faith in Christ. All Christians break the law though they do not want to do so. Anyone who happily commits sin without conscience has not been born again, for the law cannot be in their heart.
Your posts on Saturday Sabbath/sunday worship are irrelevant, for as I previously told you in depth, the born again believer MUST have heartfelt conviction they sin when wilfully refusing to follow the law in their mind and heart, something you SHOULD agree with as you keep quoting:
Sin is the transgression of the law.
    And
Through the law(within us) we become conscious of sin(rom3:20.
AND YOU CANNOT HIDE FROM THE LAW IN YOUR HEART AND MIND

Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands(what Jesus is teaching) and teaches others accordingly will be called least in(in not out of) the kingdom of heaven Matt5:19

Do you even try and obey each and every command of Christ in the Gospels? Do you not invite friends or family home for a meal, but rather the poor, blind, lame and beggars so you may receive your reward in Heaven? I can quote many more if you wish.

In fifty years of going to various churches I have met NOT ONE person who has even tried to obey each and every literal command of Christ. Will they all go to hell, including you?
