Speaking of honesty, nobody in this discussion has suggested "disarming law abiding citizens".

I find it hilarious that there are people who believe that requiring registration of firearms (like our Bishops call for) will keep law abiding, sane people from exercising their right to bear arms but that requiring a Federal ID will not keep legal voters from voting.

Gee--that's what y'all are suggesting when you claim that the NRA is against even MORE regulations and infringements against the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Again the regulations and restrictions are ALREADY on the books. You guys have just chosen to ignore them while screaming for more and more restrictions. Heck you guys don't even want gun safety taught!

I am supporting the position of the Catholic Church. They call for background checks on all firearms transfers. The statement that such a law is "on the books today is incorrect as you have been shown. To intentionally misrepresent is shameful - to do it contradicting the Catholic Church on a pro-life issue is remarkably so. They call for registration of firearms, especially handguns, the favored tool of American murderers. The statement that such a law is "on the books today is incorrect as you have been shown. To intentionally misrepresent is shameful - to do it contradicting the Catholic Church on a pro-life issue is remarkably so. I have not and am not advocating "disarming law abiding citizens". You have been informed otherwise and yet you persist. You are lying about my position. Why are you lying about my position?

Here's another article that shows that the REAL purpose of this hysteria IS confiscation.

United Nations Seeks US-based Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Specialists : Freedom Outpost

BTW I note that this is hysteria because not only is "knee-jerk" emotion used instead of facts but time and time again it has been SHOWN that the increased restrictions would not do anything to stop ANY of the massacres--sometimes firearms aren't even used or should ones BE used, they are would NOT fall under the increased restrictions (for various reasons) so the SAME darn thing would be allowed to happen "on steroids". It takes a good guy with a firearm to stop a bad guy with a firearm, and should there be no good guy with a firearm, it will go very badly for ALL other good guys. The only one who profits is the bad guy.

Oh, BTW, the reason I persist is because I have FACTS on my side. I'm not the one doing the misrepresentation as you have constantly insisted whenever I post articles that PROVE you are mistaken. Heck you have come very close to questioning my Catholicity. Perhaps you might want to stop.

I subscribe to every last teaching of the Catholic Church, including those issued through the USCCB, the group that exists for the purpose of guiding us in those matters unique to our time and place, the group that for 45 years has been calling for background checks on all firearm transfers and registration while still supporting the rights of law abiding, mentally sound citizens to own firearms. I agree with them on abortion. On capital punishment. On the right to access to healthcare. I don't think you do across the board. I think you believe in your political agenda and use the Church for support when it suits you and ignore it when it doesn't.

You have stated that more Anericans die in bathtub accidents than by firearms. That was shown to be false. You did not recant. You stated that there already are background checks required on all gun sales. That was shown to be false. You did not recant. You stated that the Federal minimum wage applies only to Federal employees. That was shown to be false. You did not recant. You stated that people who legally own NFA registered weapons cannot cross state lines with them or have to wait 6 months for permission. That was shown to be false. You did not recant. I can go on. Do you think that yours is the type of behavior that Christ wants us to display?

The difference between you and I is stark. I have friends who own class 3 firearms and I shoot them as a matter of routine. I have spent my spare time buying and selling at gunshows since I was 18, and attending since shortly after birth. I have been a Sherif's Deputy tasked with enforcing the law and have seen first hand how hard it is to busy illegal gun peddlers. I have been there and done that. You have...well, you've read political propaganda written by people who are counting on you to remain ignorant and scared so you can be used by them.
