The Band - I Shall Be Released

The congregation I attended in college (early 70s) had a version of this that we used as a worship song. The verse lyrics were re-written:

We'll see the face of Jesus
And then we'll leave
To be with Him and praise Him
Eternally.

I see the light come shinin'
To the west out from the east
Any day now, any day now,
I shall be released.

I actually learned the song in this version years ahead of ever hearing The Band's original. That was actually a common practice in the Jesus Movement and post Jesus Movement independent congregations.

It's a good solo, but for me it's going to have to take something spectacular to top this one (be it the studio or live version).

That is a great song. I think what makes the CCR solo so good; is that song is known for the vocal part; but then Fogerty comes in with this great guitar solo and blows it away; along with the screamingly powerful singing.
