Today's Christians gather in buildings and are taught from a person behind a pulpit. However, Jesus taught from a mount, a boat and peoples homes.

Did he not?

If ministers of today could do the same from time to time, the level of humility out there, would be pretty amazing. Small upcoming ones might do. Its the big famous ones that are a nuisance, they won't budge.

...where 2 or 3 are gathered together in my name, there am i in the midst.....
Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he will eat for the rest of his life. But put fish in a can, and you will confuse the hell out of him.

Precisely. There were not enough venues big enough to hold the crowds. The first apostles also taught in people's homes. The modern church structure is a long way from how it ought to be.

I for one among many was very grateful for our comfortable building on Sunday as storm Dennis rated across England. Just walking to where I parked the car got me soaked.

What is wrong with having a comfortable building or a minister?

Yes, he did. Does that mean that all Christians are obliged to gather in the least convenient, least efficient, least accessible venues...or else there is something morally wrong??

No He did not only teach from a mount, boat, and peoples homes. He also taught from within the Temple at Jerusalem, and in other synagogues as well. Besides what is your point? Were you even trying to make one?

There and elsewhere. Buildings are nice though when it is raining or snowing or when it is 102 on the mount or in the boat and the building is air conditioned. Pulpits are not as prevalent as they once were. We still have one at a our church but no one has used it in 20 years or so. The speakers in our church usually just get up front and talk. I don't find that they teach only at those times when they give a sermon during a worship service any more than Jesus only taught while giving a sermon on a mount. As a matter of fact there are Christians teaching on radios, on televisions, in the street and in people's homes and on mounts and in boats, planes, trains and automobiles.

Makes for lazy weak Christians.
All believers are priests and ministers according to the NT

What have you against lazy, weak Christians? Jesus loves us even if you don't and forgives us our faults as we forgive yours. That is whatever faults you may possess. I suppose being lazy and weak are not among them.

That's silly. A building isn't what makes some Christians lazy or weak. It's a bit deeper than that.

That many Christians are that does not invalidate the biblical example of appointed leaders/preachers/teachers.

You know the NT well enough Francis to know that Paul appointed men to lead, preach and teach.

Its suckling at the tit of the pastor every weak that makes them week.
Week by week, month by month, year by year, he teaches the same stuff to the same people, and they still suckle like infants.

The church is modelled on the hierarchical structures of the world, not on what Jesus or Paul taught.

No that's a symptom, not the cause.

No, the general church system is at fault. It's easy to be lazy and let the man at the front do everything for you. Just lay back and suckle, that's what they are taught to do.
