Christian Scriptures Statement of Purpose

The Christian Scriptures forum is for discussing various Biblical scriptures. This means providing a scripture or section of scriptures that you wish to discuss. When starting a thread, please share what aspect of the scripture that you wish to address, whether in the form of a question, getting opinions, or to if you wish to discuss the content and context of the scripture shared.

The primary text of this forum is the Bible. If you are looking for the wording of a scripture but don't remember which book/chapter/verse it may come from, try searching on Bible Gateway online. If a member requests references within a discussion for additional study, references outside of the Bible may be provided using additional sources of study or information related to the context of the discussion.

All member's who participate in Christian Scriptures are self-identified Christians through adherence to the Christian Forums' Statement of Faith and the Trinitarian nature of God. It is expected that people who post in Christian Scriptures will respect all members of the Christian faith. Scriptural discussions and interpretations can at times become heated, so please remember to keep your emotions in check and your responses in line with our sitewide rules and the following guidelines.

Guidelines for Posting in Christian Scriptures Forum:

  • Always remember that you are first and foremost brothers and sisters in Christ, regardless of your theological differences and viewpoints.
  • Do not flame a member or a group of members for their interpretation of scriptures
  • Posts that are not made specifically to discuss scripture will be considered off topic to the forum.
  • This forum is not for discussion of which version of the Bible is the best or most appropriate.

Handling Disagreements

Members who participate in the Christian Scripture forums and sub-forums are expected to treat one another with courtesy and respect at all times, ESPECIALLY when you disagree with each other. It is not a flame for a member to disagree with another member's opinion on a specific topic.
  • When you disagree, address the content of the post and not the poster. When you disagree with someone's position, you should post evidence and supporting statements for your position. This policy, sometimes referred to as "X means Y because of Z", must be followed especially when posting claims that are widely considered to be controversial.
  • When you disagree and you find yourself becoming frustrated and angry, step away from the computer and give yourself time to cool down.
  • Always proofread your post before hitting the "Reply" button to make sure you have responded with courtesy and respect.
