Christian midwife must perform abortions or lose job, Swedish court rules
By Bradford Richardson - The Washington Times - Wednesday, April 12, 2017

A Swedish appeals court ruled Wednesday against a Christian midwife who was forced by the government to choose between performing abortions and her job.

Ellinor Grimmark was blacklisted by the medical community because of her pro-life convictions, despite longstanding Swedish law protecting the conscience rights of medical professionals.

She should have told them before taking the money for training (if she knew it was likely to be a problem).

As Gracia said above though, a midwife isn't an abortionist and shouldn't cross that line.

Then again, neither should doctors, who are trained to heal, not kill.

Wait, she applied for a job she knew was going to have her to perform abortions (which I agree is a pretty weird job for a midwife to do) and then she sued because they wouldn't hire her because she wouldn't do one of the jobs she would have had to do if she got the job?

Apparently there is a law to protect conscience rights of medical workers. Not sure why it doesn't apply here.

Besides, it's not unheard of to get a religious accommodation from your employer in the US at least, so long as it is reasonable. This is whether you have to have Sundays or Saturdays off, or there's that one small thing on the job you can't do. Performing abortions or administering abortifacients would seem like something she would be able to get out of under these principles.

I'm not sure her pro-life views were the only reason she couldn't find another job in Sweden. Employers often don't want to hire someone who is in a dispute with another employer. They may think that she is a trouble maker and don't want to take the chance on being sued for something as well.

Ms. Grimmark searched for work at other hospitals, but was met with the same response wherever she went. One hospital finally offered her a job, only to rescind it upon learning of her dispute with the first clinic.

Doctors and nurses in USA and Canada are under the same pressure to abandon their life saving principals to murder preborn babies...sad commentary on todays society...can God's judgement on humanity be far away?
...uhmmm...this article is about a woman in Sweden so I'm not sure what the US or Canada have to do with it. I will say Gods judgement is really up to Him and it will come when He decides it should come.

According to God's Judgment, the US and Canada are under a sentence the same as Sweden and other countries -
no country can escape.

He puts this clearly in His Word .
True, but again, nothing in the OP is about the US or Canada so I'm still not sure what they have to do with this thread.

Same topic, same subject: midwives ...
Everywhere,
being subjected/ attacked/ pressured/ to an evil system
(doctors too)
the same evil system
under the one same devil who comes only to kill, to steal, to destroy.

What about judgment in the Chruch for allowing it to happen? Too many professing Christians standing back proclaiming that Christians should have nothing to do with government or claiming that everything must get worse as some imaginary precondition to the Rapture. Well, abortion is under attack in the US becasue of Christians getting serious about stopping it through prayer and other means.
