Hi everybody - I am new to CF and like what I see!
I wanted to let everyone know that I am starting a new Chistian business group that I know can support and strengthen everyone - because it is built on the premise of helping others first. I decided to form this group because there are very few (if any) Christian business organizations in my area and I know a lot of people are struggling.
I go to a lot of networking groups (or at least have visited), done a lot of research on what's out there (and I know there are many) and I want to pull the best from all I have seen. I think there is a void in the marketplace and I want to meet what is a growing need. The problem with almost every group I have seen is that:
1) They are only ministry
2) They are only networking
3) They are only regional (or smaller)
4) They have become a bit stale
5) Their web presence is weak - they are not harnessing the online power like LinkedIn does.
5) They cater to a specific niche, such as executives or business leaders
6) Their focus is not where it should be helping others first!
My question is why can't you have it all !?!
II Thessalonians 16-17 says, "May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father who loved us and by His grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word."
This is really the theme of Professional Purpose. The power of the group, however, is a spirit of giving and service. Secular folks call it "karma marketing". I call it doing what Christ taught us to do! It has taken me years to truly internalize this and I know it can be especially hard for some people to apply it in hard financial times - which is exactly when we should be more vigilant as Christians!
I am in the early stages, and would like to get several small groups going before a bigger launch, as well as any ideas from the group. There will be minimal dues and a modest service commitment for membership, which can be fulfilled in variety of ways. Group leaders would not owe any dues and a certain percentage of membership will be set aside for those that cannot afford it right now. For those wondering where the money goes, let me say Im not planning on getting rich off this (I want to build my core business like everyone else - and there is nothing wrong with that!); the bulk of the money would go back to spreading the word, just as a new business would, and eventually directly helping those in need.
If we band together, we can really make a difference in the lives of our brothers and sisters - and the secular business world!
If you want more info or would just like to chat, please feel free to PM me.
Thanks for reading and God Bless.
